Jordy Clasie keen to return to Feyenoord

Jordy Clasie keen to return to Feyenoord Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie wants to re-join Feyenoord this summer. The Dutchman signed for Saints in 2015 in a £8m deal from Feyenoord and after three years away from the club, it seems he is keen to return to De Kuip. Clasie was sent out on loan for the duration of last season and featured for Club Brugge in Belgium. Although the team were successful in winning the Pro League title, the Netherlands international failed to convince. Southampton, following the recent arrival of Stuart Armstrong from Celtic, will look to offload Clasie and it seems he has already set his sights on his next destination. Clasie, as quoted by Football Oranje, discussed the prospect of a return to the Eredivisie, highlighting Feyenoord as his preferred next destination. “Abroad is simply not something for us, we were unhappy. For me, there is only one option and that is Feyenoord. The transfer amount can indeed be a problem, but perhaps the club sells some more players.” It’s reported that Saints want to recoup the large chunk of the £8m they spent on signing Clasie under Ronald Koeman, but whether or not Feyenoord will part with such a sum remains to be seen.

Jordy Clasie (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈjɔrdi ˈklaːzi]; born 27 June 1991) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a midfielder for Southampton, and for the Dutch national team.

Southampton’s valuation of Jordy Clasie is reportedly delaying Feyenoord ’s pursuit of the player. Feyenoord will reportedly seek an agreement with Saints regarding a loan deal, but it seems talks are currently at an impasse.

Feyenoord are continuing to push for the signing of Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie, according to Dutch news outlet AD.

The Eredivisie outfit have been heavily linked with a swoop for their former player in recent weeks as they look to sign him as a replacement for Karim El Ahmadi.

Clasie has recently expressed his desire to return to De Kuip, where he enjoyed the most successful years of his career.

The Netherlands international spent last season out on loan following Saints’ acquisition of Mario Lemina. Clasie played a sporadic role for Club Brugge as they triumphed in the top-flight of Belgian football.

Carrillo and Boufal omitted from Saints' squad for China tour

Carrillo and Boufal omitted from Saints' squad for China tour Southampton’s squad for their pre-season tour of China has today been revealed, with Mark Hughes making some notable omissions and inclusions. The Saints will head out to the Far East to participate in a training camp as they ramp up their preparations for the upcoming 2018/19 season in the Premier League. Southampton will face Bundesliga giants FC Schalke 04 on Thursday 5 July before taking on Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning on Wednesday 11 July. As reported by the club’s official Twitter account, the squad for Saints’ ventures to China has been confirmed by Hughes, and two notable omissions are found in the form of club-record signing Guido Carrillo along with Sofiane Boufal. Twitter: Check out the #SaintsFC squad that is heading to China tonight for the team’s pre-season training camp: https://t.co/pVb4Y9fFiV (@SouthamptonFC) Carrillo joined in January for a sum of £19 million but has been frozen out following Mauricio Pellegrino’s departure, with Hughes now opting against even taking him to China with the rest of the squad. The same applies for Boufal, who was banished to training with the Under-23 squad at the tail-end of last season after an altercation with Hughes. It seems the attacking duo aren’t in the Saints boss’ plans ahead of next season, but the likes of Jordy Clasie and Harrison Reed have been given a fresh chance to impress after loan spells away last season. New signing Stuart Armstrong will travel with the squad, and £16m arrival Mohamed Elyounoussi will join up at a later date. The likes of Jan Bednarek, Maya Yoshida and Cedric Soares will be given an extended break due to their participation in the World Cup, with the latter duo entering the knockout stages.

In return, the club restocked with players such as Jordy Clasie , Miquel Nelom, Guyon Fernandez and Kaj Ramsteijn In December 2006, Feyenoord director Chris Woerts announced that Feyenoord were developing plans to build a new stadium which would have a capacity of roughly 90,000 seats.

It’s believed that Southampton would be willing to loan Clasie out for yet another season, but it’s been reported elsewhere that their preference would be to sell the midfielder, who has now been on the club’s books for three years.

AD indicate that Feyenoord are making significant efforts now to push a deal for Clasie over the line, with technical director Martin van Geel allegedly in talks with officials from Southampton.

Clasie has endured a stop-start tenure at St Mary’s following his move from Feyenoord in the summer of 2015, and it seems he is desperate to make his return to Dutch football.
