Everton reignite interest in La Liga defender

Everton reignite interest in La Liga defender Everton have reignited their interested in Espanyol defender David López, according to MailOnline. The Toffees were first interested in the 28-year centre-back in January, so claimed Mundo Deportivo, and now the club are revisiting their former target. López, who has a £35million release clause in his Espanyol contract, is versatile and can play across the back-line and in midfield. The Barcelona based club are also said to be keen on heavily reducing the wage bill this summer, so Everton could hope to land López for less than his release clause. Fulham boss Slaviša Jokanović is also interested in moving for the Spaniard, with the Serb keen to strengthen his side ahead of their return to the Premier League. ©

Everton are interested in signing Barcelona defender Lucas Digne, as well as teammate Yerry Mina this summer.

New manager Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands have yet to make their mark on the Everton team they have inherited, but are both said to be desperate to refresh the squad with youth and quality and have been in contact with a number of ambitious targets.

Leading their list of defensive reinforcements is the Catalan club’s defensive duo, who have both struggled for minutes at the Nou Camp.

While the club’s pursuit of Mina has been frequently covered in the media, Digne is a relatively new name thrown in the mix, after Everton walked away from a deal for Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney.

Everton ready sizeable offer for La Liga full-back

Everton ready sizeable offer for La Liga full-back Everton are reportedly readying an offer of €16million for Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne, as their pursuit of Leighton Baines’ heir apparent heats up with the transfer window in it’s final few weeks. The Toffees have been linked with a whole host of left-sided defenders since January, with the club desperate to replenish a depleted depth of talent in that position. Barcelona’s Lucas Digne, who signed for the Catalan club in 2016 from Paris Saint-Germain, looks to be Everton’s primary target at the moment, with the club having previously pulled out of deal for Celtic’s Kieran Tierney after the Hoops slapped a £25million price tag on their prized asset. Now Mundo Deportivo are claiming that the club are ready to offer a fee similar to what Barcelona paid for the 24-year old France international two years ago. Digne has struggled for consistent game time at the Nou Camp, with Jordi Alba the preferred option at left-back. Everton will be hoping that an offer of more consistent football can lure Digne to Goodison Park, with Bayern Munich and Juventus previously said to also be interested.

While friendlies against good opposition is a start, playing in La Liga would be the perfect build-up, if selected. The former Everton and Blackburn striker admits it will not be easy. Initial interest fades quickly when a star does not feature and resentment can result.

The 24-year French left-back, who was on France’s stand-by list for the World Cup, is believed to keen on leaving Catalonia this summer, due in part to his limited minutes on the pitch since he moved to Spain.

Barcelona brought him to Spain from Paris Saint-Germain for around €16million in 2016, and after a promising start the Frenchman failed to establish himself as a permanent first-team fixture.

The Telegraph reports that Digne has asked to leave this summer, a request which is likely to be granted, with Everton williing to pay over £10million to sign the defender. Juventus are also believed to be interested.

Mina though, could be more difficult to land, with it not clear whether Barcelona want to sell or loan the 23-year old Colombian, although Everton are keen on securing a deal either way.

Chelsea interested in signing Porto forward Moussa Marega .
Chelsea have joined fellow Premier League clubs Everton, Tottenham and West Ham in the race to sign FC Porto striker Moussa Marega, according to reports. The 27-year-old has openly admitted that he wants to secure a move to the Premier League and the Mali international seemingly won’t be short of options when it comes to deciding which club to join. Marega scored 23 goals in 40 appearances for Porto last season, helping them win the Primeira Liga title but speaking last month, he told reporters how he wants to make a move to England, despite the success he’s had with the Portuguese side. He said: “For me, I think it’s the best time to try my luck elsewhere, to try something new, get to know a new league. The Premier League for example. It pains me to say this, because I’m very attached to this club, to its fans who give me a lot. I’ve liked [the Premier League] for a long time. Then again, who doesn’t? It’s a great league, with great players. It’s flattering when clubs are interested in you, but I’ve always dreamed of playing there. I want to be happy, with my family, in a league I love.” Porto are understandably in no rush to let Marega leave so any team who wants him will have to meet the reported €40m release clause that’s in his contract.
