Loftus-Cheek could push foreign loan move this summer

Loftus-Cheek could push foreign loan move this summer Ruben Loftus-Cheek will look to join a foreign club on loan this summer if he does not feature regularly under Maurizio Sarri. The Times reports that the England international is unlikely to be moved out on loan before the closing of the transfer window next week, meaning he will start the season at Stamford Bridge. Loftus-Cheek will still be able to push for a move abroad until the end of August when the European windows close. Should the England international fail to feature during the early stages of the Premier League season, he could be on the move once again this summer. Crystal Palace have been heavily linked with a move for Loftus-Cheek throughout the summer, but it is believed Chelsea want to give him a chance in the first-team squad this season. Loftus-Cheek impressed at Selhurst Park towards the end of last season and caught the eye for England at the World Cup in Russia.

“I think if we can have him in the team this season it’s a plus for everyone,” said the Belgian winger. Crystal Palace "tried everything" to re - sign Loftus - Cheek after loan spell (Getty). Hodgson , who used to watch Palace play from the stands when he was younger

Roy Hodgson confirms Crystal Palace tried to re - sign Ruben Loftus - Cheek on loan . Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson admits he wanted to bring Ruben Loftus - Cheek back to Selhurst Park for this season but Chelsea blocked the deal.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was a wanted man this summer, but Chelsea refused to entertain a bid from Crystal Palace, according to Roy Hodgson.

As reported by The Independent, the Palace boss revealed that the club did everything in their power to try and bring the player back to Selhurst Park, but the Blues wanted the player in the first-team squad.

“Steve Parish knows how much we would have liked to get him here again. It doesn’t surprise me that they’d rather keep him and not loan him out. We did all we could do.”

Hodgson makes Loftus-Cheek admission

Hodgson makes Loftus-Cheek admission Ruben Loftus-Cheek became rather popular at Crystal Palace last season. The midfielder joined on loan at the start of the season, and impressed hugely during his campaign at Selhurst Park. 25 appearances was enough to catch the eye of England manager Gareth Southgate, and the versatile play-maker ended up playing an important role in the national side’s World Cup semi-final run. Palace manager Roy Hodgson was under no illusion as to just how critical Loftus-Cheek was in last year’s Premier League survival, and revealed his desire to bring the international back to South London. Speaking to TalkSPORT (and quoted by the Daily Star), Hodgson said: “We’d love to have him back there’s no question of that,” “But of course that’s something that is totally and utterly in Chelsea’s hands.” “I have no idea what their plans for Ruben are. They haven’t announced to us what their plans are and I’ve seen nothing written publicly.” Loftus-Cheek would be competing for playing time with N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko, and Ross Barkley.

Then, last summer, Crystal Palace came calling. At Selhurst Park, Loftus - Cheek toughened up. That year on loan provided him with life experience at “He doesn’t have any weaknesses,” said Hodgson . “He has all the qualities – pace, power, touch, awareness – that you need in a central midfielder.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek eyeing loan abroad before end of August .
Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is hoping to go out on loan before the end of August as he wants to play regular first-team football, according to a report from John Cross of The Mirror. Loftus-Cheek wasn’t even named in the matchday squad for the weekend’s win over Arsenal and it looks like he’s not in Maurizio Sarri’s immediate plans. The 22-year-old wants to ensure that he is playing regularly so he can keep his place in the England set-up after being part of Gareth Southgate’s 23 man squad at the World Cup. According to Cross, there has been a lot of interest from Spain for Loftus-Cheek, who was not able to secure another loan move to Crystal Palace during the recent transfer window. However, the midfielder might not be allowed to leave on loan as Chelsea like to tie their players down to new deals before loaning them out but Loftus-Cheek, with three years left on his contract, won’t sign an extension without assurances about playing time in the future.
