Chelsea rejected offers from Championship club for teenager Ampadu

Chelsea rejected offers from Championship club for teenager Ampadu Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri rejected offers from Derby County for teenage midfielder Ethan Ampadu during the summer transfer window, according to a report on the Derby Telegraph. Sky Sports presenter Scott Minto revealed that Championship club Derby were interested in signing Ampadu but Sarri blocked all their offers. The manager rates the Welshman very highly and believes that he can have a part to play for the Blues this season. The 17-year-old was showered with praise for his impressive performance for Wales during their 4-1 victory against the Republic of Ireland in their UEFA Nations League opener. When speaking about Ampadu, former Chelsea player Minto said: “I know Derby tried to sign him on a season loan, I also know that Maurizio Sarri said no.” Ampadu only made one Premier League appearance for Chelsea last season and is yet to feature under Sarri in the league this season. Derby manager Frank Lampard had his eye on a number of Chelsea youth players to take on loan to the Championship but failed with his attempts of luring Ampadu to the Rams.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock says he wants to sign Ethan Ampadu on loan from Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Warnock, who was speaking to BBC Radio Wales, explained why he rates the youngster so highly.

“I think they should loan us him. What I like about him is that he is so confident.”

“He plays the game simple. He will have to quicken up a little bit when he gets higher up because he will get caught. But that’s the whole object of playing games really.”

“He will get that by playing games. When you play with the type of players he has to play with it does help for his education. They have good players who could do with playing and if they could get a game in the Premier League I think it would help their development really.”

Ethan Ampadu wants Chelsea chance

Ethan Ampadu wants Chelsea chance Chelsea’s young Welsh star Ethan Ampadu wants more chance to impress for the Blues first team, according to The youngster impressed on international duty with Wales, despite having limited first team experience with the Blues. Ampadu had made some appearances for the Blues last season under Antonio Conte, but has failed to feature so far this season. Speaking after Wales dispatched the Republic of Ireland 4-1 in the UEFA Nations League, Ampadu said he does want more opportunities, and that he wants to show Maurizio Sarri what he can do. “You could say there’s been frustration on one hand, but at the same time I’m getting experience training with the players.” “I’m just trying to improve to get into the team. This season’s plans are this season’s plans and at the moment I’ve just to keep improving to try and get in the team.” “I want to show the manager what I can do.” Ampadu will be in international action again next week, as they take on Denmark in Aahrus.

It has already been claimed that Ampadu could leave the club on loan during the January window should his game time not increase.

The Welsh youngster is very highly thought of at the club and was ever present during the pre-season campaign, but he is yet to nail down a position with the Blues.

Interest in his performances has mounted after he starred for Ryan Giggs’ Wales side during the recent international break.

Warnock may be wary that he openly revealed his admiration for the player just days after accusing the Blues of ‘lacking class’ for the way they let Tammy Abraham join Aston Villa instead of Cardiff.

However, some fans noticed something a little peculiar with the way that Ampadu’s new contract was announced. The official pictures released online that show Ampadu ‘signing’ a contract are quite deceiving. The main problem being that he was not signing any contract, but what appears to be a training schedule. Now, we don’t doubt that Ampadu has signed a new contract, but it appears Chelsea misplaced the official copy! Chelsea will be hoping that Ampadu can be more efficient on the pitch when he next gets his chance.
