Chelsea rejected offers from Championship club for teenager Ampadu

Chelsea rejected offers from Championship club for teenager Ampadu Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri rejected offers from Derby County for teenage midfielder Ethan Ampadu during the summer transfer window, according to a report on the Derby Telegraph. Sky Sports presenter Scott Minto revealed that Championship club Derby were interested in signing Ampadu but Sarri blocked all their offers. The manager rates the Welshman very highly and believes that he can have a part to play for the Blues this season. The 17-year-old was showered with praise for his impressive performance for Wales during their 4-1 victory against the Republic of Ireland in their UEFA Nations League opener. When speaking about Ampadu, former Chelsea player Minto said: “I know Derby tried to sign him on a season loan, I also know that Maurizio Sarri said no.” Ampadu only made one Premier League appearance for Chelsea last season and is yet to feature under Sarri in the league this season. Derby manager Frank Lampard had his eye on a number of Chelsea youth players to take on loan to the Championship but failed with his attempts of luring Ampadu to the Rams.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has revealed he will contact Chelsea about the possibility of signing young star Ethan Ampadu on loan.

ITV Wales report that Warnock is impressed with the teenager’s ability and would like to give him first-team football in the top flight.

Ampadu, who turns 18 today, impressed during the international break with Wales, starring in his country’s 4-1 demolition of the Republic of Ireland.

However, the central midfielder is yet to even make the bench in the Premier League under Maurizio Sarri this season.

Speaking about the player, Warnock said:

Ethan Ampadu wants Chelsea chance

Ethan Ampadu wants Chelsea chance Chelsea’s young Welsh star Ethan Ampadu wants more chance to impress for the Blues first team, according to Goal.com. The youngster impressed on international duty with Wales, despite having limited first team experience with the Blues. Ampadu had made some appearances for the Blues last season under Antonio Conte, but has failed to feature so far this season. Speaking after Wales dispatched the Republic of Ireland 4-1 in the UEFA Nations League, Ampadu said he does want more opportunities, and that he wants to show Maurizio Sarri what he can do. “You could say there’s been frustration on one hand, but at the same time I’m getting experience training with the players.” “I’m just trying to improve to get into the team. This season’s plans are this season’s plans and at the moment I’ve just to keep improving to try and get in the team.” “I want to show the manager what I can do.” Ampadu will be in international action again next week, as they take on Denmark in Aahrus.

“I will be speaking to somebody at Chelsea about one or two things. I think they should loan him (Ampadu) to us and I could help him as well.”

“He doesn’t look out of place. What I like about him is that he is so confident.”

Cardiff travel to London to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tomorrow, where the Bluebirds will be looking to record their first win of the season.

Any deal for Ampadu could be hindered by the fact that Warnock publicly criticised Chelsea earlier this week for not allowing Tammy Abraham to join Cardiff on loan this summer.

Ampadu joined Chelsea last summer from Exeter City, and a fee of up to £2.5m was eventually set by a tribunal for the player.

Chelsea fans notice something very odd about Ampdau's new contract .
Chelsea recently confirmed that Ethan Ampadu has signed a new long-term contract at the club. Blues fans were understandably delighted with the news. Ampadu has impressed whenever he has been called upon at Chelsea. He has showcased maturity way beyond his tender years and has also impressed for his national team. So much so, there are already suggestions he could be a future captain for both club and country. However, some fans noticed something a little peculiar with the way that Ampadu’s new contract was announced. The official pictures released online that show Ampadu ‘signing’ a contract are quite deceiving. The main problem being that he was not signing any contract, but what appears to be a training schedule. Now, we don’t doubt that Ampadu has signed a new contract, but it appears Chelsea misplaced the official copy! Chelsea will be hoping that Ampadu can be more efficient on the pitch when he next gets his chance.
