Liverpool and Spurs tracking Lazio's Adam Marusic Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly both tracking Lazio defender Adam Marusic, ahead of a potential swoop for the player. According to reports in Italy, both Premier League sides are admirers of the player, with teams preparing to strengthen in the January transfer window. The report claims that both Liverpool and Spurs are ‘following him carefully’. Marusic is a versatile player, who can play in a more advanced role either on the left or the right, as well as in defence. Jurgen Klopp appears keen to strengthen defensively, with Alberto Moreno set to leave to the club. Moreno is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Barcelona recently. There are also concerns over Nathaniel Clyne’s long-term future at Anfield. The former Southampton man has lost his place in the first-team to Trent Alexander-Arnold and has found game time hard to come by after struggling with injuries.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Bologna ahead of the upcoming transfer window but Lazio are the latest club to be touted as a potential destination.

Gabbiadini has found himself in and out of the team this season under Mark Hughes and was excluded from the matchday squad entirely on Sunday, as Saints were defeated 6-1 by Manchester City.

The Italy international has often reiterated his desire to prove himself at St Mary’s Stadium but is understood to be growing ever frustrated with the limited amount of opportunities he is being presented with.

Shane Long, Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini have struggled for form this season and Nakajima has been operating as a second striker for Portimonense.

This has led to believe that Southampton have made Gabbiadini available for a January loan.

It’s reported that the Saints will accept an initial loan fee worth between €2 million to €3 million, with a potential option to buy at the end of the season set at a price of only €13 million.

Southampton have a plethora of strikers at their disposal and Gabbiadini does not appear to be high up in Hughes’ current pecking order.

Lazio director Igli Tare is a known admirer of Gabbiadini’s qualities and ahead of the January transfer window, it’s reported that he is prepared to make another move for the Saints star.

Southampton will block any potential January exit for striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to reports. Claims emerging in Italy from the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio claim that the Saints are not willing to lose the player in the upcoming transfer window. Both Fiorentina and Bologna have been heavily linked moves to sign the out-of-favour striker but he looks set to stay put, for the time being at least. The former Napoli man has fallen out of favour at St Mary’s, leading to suggestions that he could be on his way back to Serie A. A number of teams have expressed an interest but the Saints appear unwilling to do business. Mark Hughes has preferred to use other options in the final third during his time at the club, but with Southampton among the lowest scorers in the division, this could be a hint that his chance is coming in the second half of the season.
