We have to decide in the future what we can do or not.” “I think it is really important for me that – not just the new players – but all the others’ environment is good. You are talking about players who have come from big clubs.” “We have a fantastic group spirit in our dressing room and as we get strong it will get better for us. They are enjoying how they are feeling as well. The winning mentality we are trying to build.

Dowell faces fierce competition within the Toffees’ attacking ranks, and after playing in Everton’s 4-0 friendly win against Gor Mahia at Goodison Park on Tuesday, the academy product voiced his frustrations.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Silva confirmed that he will have a discussion with Dowell about his short-term future. Silva said:

“Of course, he’s played in the two Carabao Cup games but he hasn’t had a big chance in the Premier League but now is not the moment to decide something. When the moment arrives I will sit with the player, I will talk with him but you never know what will happen between now and January.”

“We are at the beginning of November and everything can change fast in football. If you look at our squad that started the season and the squad we have now, there is a big difference. And you never know what will happen between now and January.”

“Kieran is an important player for our club and if we have to decide something I will sit down with the player, we will wait until January and decide what will be the best solution, to stay or to go if he’s not playing because if he’s playing he will stay with us.”

Dowell played 43 times for Forest last season in all competitions, scoring ten goals.

Silva wants players to step up against top six opponents.
Marco Silva has insisted that Everton’s players must step up and show courage as they look to turn around their terrible away record at ‘top six’ clubs. The Toffees have failed to adequately compete against the Premier League’s ‘top six’ away from home over the years, with the most recent win coming at Old Trafford in December 2013. Although the records would have United as the firm favourites, Everton are on a positive winning streak, having beaten Fulham, Leicester City and Crystal Palace in their previous three league games. Silva intends to encourage his players to be on the front foot against United, if they wish to live up to their ambitions of returning to European competition. Talking ahead of Sunday’s fixture, Silva said: “To be able to win one game at Old Trafford or at one of the other strong sides in the country you have to be strong as a squad.” “You have to have the personality and the character to not fear and to be yourselves.
