Fulham keen to extend youngster Drameh's contract

Fulham keen to extend youngster Drameh's contract Fulham are reportedly keen to tie young prospect Cody Drameh down to a long-term contract at the club. Sky Sports write that Drameh has been featuring regularly for the club’s U23 side this season, despite being just 16 years old. Drameh plays at right-back and was in the news earlier this week for scoring a spectacular against Norwich City U23’s in the professional development league. The full-back’s contract situation is reportedly drawing the interest of a number of England’s top clubs, although that is something Fulham are hopeful of resolving shortly. The player is currently on a scholarship deal which runs out at the end of next season, meaning he would be able to move for a minimal fee. The Cottagers are growing somewhat of a reputation for nurturing players from the academy into the first-team set-up, with the likes of Ryan and Steven Sessegnon, Marcus Bettenelli and 15-year-old Harvey Elliott all featuring.

Southampton full-back Matt Targett is reportedly on the verge of completing a six-month loan move to Fulham . The 22-year-old will join the Championship

Fulham are reportedly keen to re-sign former loanee Matt Targett from Premier League rivals Southampton.

According to the Evening Standard, Fulham failed with a £15m move for the player in the summer and will try again in the January window.

Targett joined the Cottagers on loan for the second half of last season and made 18 Championship appearances as the club were promoted via the playoffs.

His arrival coincided with an impressive defensive run as Slavisa Jokanovic’s men conceded just 11 goals in a 17-match unbeaten run.

The Cottagers boast the Premier League’s worst defence in the Premier League this campaign, conceding 29 goals in their 11 matches, four more than 15th-placed Burnley.

Fulham considering January bid to sign Matt Targett

Fulham considering January bid to sign Matt Targett Fulham are set to reignite their interest in Southampton defender Matt Targett during the January transfer window. The London Evening Standard reports that the Cottagers are looking to strengthen defensively and will prepare a move for the player who previously enjoyed a spell on loan at the club. Fulham tried to sign the defender permanently in the summer off the back of their promotion to the Premier League. The report claims that Targett, who has once again fallen out of favour at Southampton, is keen to return to the London club after impressing on loan there. Southampton refused to sell the player, despite turning down numerous offers from the Premier League new boys. Slavisa Jokanovic’s men were willing to spend as much as £15 million to sign the player in the summer, but it is yet to be seen how much they would be ready to pay in the new year.

Fulham have made a £10m bid for Southampton left-back Matt Targett , according to Sky sources. However, it is understood Saints have no interest in selling

Southampton are reportedly keen to keep hold of Matt Targett this summer, despite Fulham ’ s efforts to land him on a permanent deal. The former England Under-21 international joined the Cottagers on loan until the end of the season in January and was a key player for Slavisa Jokanovic’ s men

Having failed to recruit Targett in the summer Fulham instead purchased Joe Bryan in a £6m deal from Bristol City, who has since been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

That has forced Jokanovic to play centre-back Maxime Le Marchand in his place, and on occasion, Ryan Sessegnon has also filled in.

Targett is behind Ryan Bertrand in the St Marys pecking order and has made just one league start this campaign.

Hughes confirms Targett is set to start at Fulham.
Matt Targett is set to start for Southampton against Fulham this weekend, Mark Hughes has confirmed. Speaking ahead of his side’s trip to Craven Cottage, the Saints boss discussed how he would replace first-choice left-back Ryan Bertrand in the starting line-up. The England international picked up his fifth booking of the season in Southampton’s 1-1 draw against Watford prior to the international break, ruling him out of the team’s visit to Fulham. This means that Hughes has been forced to seek alternative options at left-back and, as reported by Saints’ official club website, Targett is set to be handed a rare chance to shine. The Welshman said: “We’re fortunate that we have someone of the quality of Matt to come in. It’s an obvious choice and one that I’ll make as long as he comes through training unscathed. We’re lucky to have Matt: he knows the level, he’s played many times in the Premier League and he’ll acquit himself very well I’m sure.” “He’s coming up against a team that he knows and he’ll have a good feeling going into the game. I sense Matt – along with everyone else – is really looking forward to the occasion.” The former England Under-21 international has made only two starts for Southampton this season, with both of these coming in the Carabao Cup. However, Targett looks all but set to be given the nod for Saints’ crunch clash with Fulham, as he bids to nail down a place in Hughes’ plans for the rest of the season.
