There have been multiple trade rumours surrounding Anthony Davis early this season. After DeMarcus Cousins left the Pelicans and Davis became, once again, the only all-star on the team, NBA fans were wondering if the big-man wanted to leave. After hearing report after report as to the latest news on where Davis could be heading to next, there was one key thing to consider: Anthony himself didn’t say a word.

A very recent Davis rumour suggested that he wanted to head to the Los Angeles Lakers. This was one of the most accurate whisperings because the general manager of both the Pelicans and the Lakers have reportedly been discussing this deal for years. Of course, this matter is out of the hands of Davis, as he is not a free agent, and can be traded to any team because he doesn’t have a no-trade clause on his contract.

LeBron James Reportedly Wants Carmelo Anthony to Join the Lakers

LeBron James Reportedly Wants Carmelo Anthony to Join the Lakers It’s been over a decade, but at one point, Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James were big rivals. Anthony was in Syracuse, and LeBron was still in high school, but the two players were fighting to be the first pick in the 2003 NBA draft. Skip ahead to the 2003 NBA Draft, and James was snapped up first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers, while Carmelo Anthony ended up being drafted third overall by the Denver Nuggets. Both players got off to great starts to their NBA careers, but while Anthony has slowed down, James is still an MVP candidate. Ever since Anthony left the Knicks to join the Thunder, he hasn’t been the same player that he once was. Some of it has to do with ageing. After joining the Houston Rockets to start off this NBA season, Anthony failed to fit in and was subsequently waived. Now that Anthony isn’t currently on an NBA team, it’s been a large question as to whether he would retire or not. It seems that Anthony doesn’t feel ready to retire yet, and is looking for a good team to sign with. Anthony hasn’t won a championship yet in his career, and probably wants to sign with a contender for that reason. According to a report from The Athletic, LeBron James would like the Lakers to sign the 34 year old veteran. When asked further questions regarding Anthony coming to LA, LeBron said that it is out of his hands as to whether the deal happens or not. He would just be happy if it does happen.

New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis has reportedly changed agents, according to an ESPN report . The five-time All-Star is separating from longtime During last season, Davis was subject to rumors circulating that the Boston Celtics were interested in trading for the three-time All-NBA player .

Anthony Davis (strained right hip) has been cleared to play in Monday's game against the Celtics after going through a pregame workout with team trainers. After the game , the Pels classified him as day-to-day. New Orleans won't have a shootaround today as they are traveling and on the second leg of a

Anyways, it’s been quite a hectic month and a half in the NBA, and almost everyone seemed to think that Davis was one step away from leaving New Orleans. This is why the revelation that Davis is in fact content in Louisiana is so astonishing. According to Basketball Insiders, Davis is not only is happy playing for the Pelicans, but he’s also never expressed any interest in heading to another team. Like any other NBA player, Davis is determined to win a championship, however he wants to earn it through hard work on the New Orleans Pelicans.

The MVP candidate is averaging 28 PPG, 13 RPG, 4.8 APG, 1.6 SPG, and 2.7 BPG (leads the NBA) through 21 games. Davis’s assists, steals, and blocks numbers are all career highs. It would be hard for a team to find a deal to even offer for such a valuable asset on the Pelicans; the Lakers don’t really have any eye-popping players that could potentially be part of the Davis deal (that they would be willing to trade).

If the Los Angeles Lakers try to make a trade for Davis, or a different big-name player, the Lakers need to be careful not to throw of their nice young core. Finally, the Lakers don’t seem like a team that even needs too much change. They have lots of youth, they have LeBron James, who is arguably the best basketball player on the planet. The future seems bright for the Lakers, and it doesn’t seem like they need any more change. It’s just about the youth evolving together, and the Lakers slowly developing into a contending team.

Anthony Davis flattered by LeBron James remarks but focused on Pelicans.
The inability of New Orleans to get over the hump despite Davis’ efforts have most believing he’ll sign elsewhere when he hits free agency.
