Wilshere to miss Fulham clash with ankle injury

Wilshere to miss Fulham clash with ankle injury Jack Wilshere will miss out when West Ham visit Fulham on Saturday evening, according to reports. The midfielder had only just returned to fitness before once again being sidelined through an ankle injury – typically, to the other one that he had injured earlier in the season. The 26-year-old required surgery on that ailment, but his new problem is not understood to be as serious. Lucas Perez is also a doubt ahead of the game, meaning the Hammers are on the verge of a possible injury crisis. With Marko Arnautovic ruled out until the new year, the loss of Perez could mean that Andy Carroll will get his first start of the season. Heading into the busy period of festive fixtures, manager Manuel Pellegrini may be forced to look deeper into his squad. The Irons have seen their form pick up in recent weeks, having won three games on the bounce.

Jack Andrew Garry Wilshere (/ˈwɪlʃər/; born 1 January 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club West Ham United and the English national team.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for the Italy fixture. Jack Wilshere will miss England's friendly against Italy on Tuesday, dealing a potentially fatal blow to his World Cup prospects, but Joe Gomez will remain with Gareth Southgate's squad despite his early exit against Holland.

Jack Wilshere has joined Marko Arnautovic in the West Ham treatment room, with the midfielder also ruled out of this weekend’s clash with Crystal Palace.

BBC Sport have confirmed that the former Arsenal man will not be in action against Roy Hodgson’s men.

The Hammers were dealt a huge blow in the build-up to the game as it was confirmed that the Austrian would be sidelined for a month and the update on Wilshere’s fitness has made matters worse for Manuel Pellegrini.

Speaking about the midfielder’s fitness, the West Ham boss said:

“Wilshere is not 100% comfortable so he won’t be available, but I think it will just be for this game.”

Fulham given boost as West Ham's injury troubles mount

Fulham given boost as West Ham's injury troubles mount Fulham have received a much-needed boost ahead of this Saturday’s London derby with West Ham United at Craven Cottage. As reported by West London Sport, the Hammers are likely to be without two influential players for the 5.30 kick-off. Central midfielder Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for the third game in a row with a persistent ankle injury, whilst striker Lucas Perez is struggling with a foot problem. Wilshere moved to the London Stadium on a free transfer in the summer and will be a big loss to the Hammers given his creativity on the ball. Perez sustained his injury in the first half of last weekend’s 3-2 win over Crystal Palace and was replaced by fit-again Andy Carroll. Should he not be fit to start at the Cottage, Carroll is likely to take his place in the starting XI. On the duo, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini said: “Lucas Perez has a pain in his foot, we are reviewing him and tomorrow we will see who will be in the squad. Jack Wilshere will not be involved in this game.” The Hammers go into the match on the back of three consecutive victories, whilst Claudio Ranieri’s Fulham will be hoping to use their home advantage to end their three-match winless run and climb off the foot of the Premier League table.

Jack Wilshere - out of England matches next month. Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been ruled out of England's European Qualifiers against San Marino and Switzerland. The 23-year-old has not played yet this season because of an ankle injury and had initially been ruled out for two months.

Wilshere’s latest set back is another blow in what has been a frustrating start to his time at West Ham after making the move from Arsenal in the summer.

The midfielder has been unable to kick-start his Hammers career with injuries preventing him from featuring for large spells of the campaign.

The 26-year-old has started just four Premier League games for West Ham and only made his return to action against Newcastle off the bench recently.

Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne ruled out of Chelsea clash.
Manchester City stars Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne have both ruled out of the champions’ clash with Chelsea on Saturday evening. Former Chelsea midfielder De Bruyne has been out for a few weeks with a hamstring issue but he was reportedly closing in on a return this weekend, but that will now no longer be the case as he’s not fit enough to take part in the game. Aguero still hasn’t recovered from his abductor injury and as such, it will be Gabriel Jesus who’ll be tasked with leading the line for Pep Guardiola’s team. Vincent Kompany limped out of City’s 2-1 win over Watford in midweek but he’s been declared fit for selection if called upon with Guardiola confirming that the tightness of the hamstring felt by the Belgian star was cramp, not a pull or strain. Chelsea have the chance to close the gap between themselves and Man City to seven points if they can win the game. A loss would see City move 13 points clear of the Blues, and that will all but end Chelsea’s hopes of pushing for the title.
