Danny Ings ruled out of clash with Manchester United

Danny Ings ruled out of clash with Manchester United Southampton have been handed an injury blow with Danny Ings set to miss out against Manchester United, having not yet recovered from a thigh injury. The Saints striker had been in great form before picking up the injury against Watford, with the knock keeping him out of Saints last few games. Speaking ahead of the clash with the Red Devils at the weekend, Mark Hughes revealed that Ings had not yet recovered from his injury, so will be a doubt for the weekend’s clash. The Welshman told reporters ahead of the game: “We’re still missing Danny [Ings], we hoped to get him back on the grass at some point this week but it hasn’t been possible. We’re hopeful that the games next week. He’ll become an option again.” Saints are on a dismal run of form, and could do with the former Liverpool man returning to the lineup. Mark Hughes’ side were dumped out of the Carabao Cup in midweek, narrowly losing on penalties to Leicester City.

Jack Andrew Garry Wilshere (/ˈwɪlʃər/; born 1 January 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club West Ham United and the English national team.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for the Italy fixture. Jack Wilshere will miss England's friendly against Italy on Tuesday, dealing a potentially fatal blow to his World Cup prospects, but Joe Gomez will remain with Gareth Southgate's squad despite his early exit against Holland.

Jack Wilshere has joined Marko Arnautovic in the West Ham treatment room, with the midfielder also ruled out of this weekend’s clash with Crystal Palace.

BBC Sport have confirmed that the former Arsenal man will not be in action against Roy Hodgson’s men.

The Hammers were dealt a huge blow in the build-up to the game as it was confirmed that the Austrian would be sidelined for a month and the update on Wilshere’s fitness has made matters worse for Manuel Pellegrini.

Speaking about the midfielder’s fitness, the West Ham boss said:

“Wilshere is not 100% comfortable so he won’t be available, but I think it will just be for this game.”

Saints given boost as Sanchez ruled out of clash

Twitter: BREAKING: Jose Mourinho says Alexis Sanchez will be out “for a long time” with a hamstring injury suffered in train… https://t.co/C3xu30hFG9 (@SkySportsNews) The winger will not be part of the squad as Southampton look for their second league win of the season. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are expected to start on either wing instead of Sanchez, with Romelu Lukaku looking set to lead the line for Mourinho. Sanchez has struggled since his move to Old Trafford from Arsenal in January, but has proven in the past that he is one of the best in the league on his day.

Wilshere’s latest set back is another blow in what has been a frustrating start to his time at West Ham after making the move from Arsenal in the summer.

The midfielder has been unable to kick-start his Hammers career with injuries preventing him from featuring for large spells of the campaign.

The 26-year-old has started just four Premier League games for West Ham and only made his return to action against Newcastle off the bench recently.

Jack Wilshere could miss rest of the season with injury.
West Ham are worried that Jack Wilshere could miss the remainder of the season with injury, with the former Arsenal man set to miss the entire Festive period. The Mirror report that the midfielder is set to be out for five weeks, and will miss all of West Ham’s games over the Christmas period. However, other reports from Sportsbible say that West Ham are worried that if Wilshere does not recover after five weeks he may need more surgery, potentially putting him out for the remainder of the Premier League season. Wilshere has had constant trouble with injuries throughout his career, and has again run into trouble with them at West Ham. Losing the former Arsenal man would be a huge blow for the Hammers, especially with Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko both out long-term with injuries. West Ham are coping for now however, with the Hammers completing their fourth win on the trot at the weekend by beating Fulham.
