Tosun commits future to Everton despite Besiktas links

Tosun commits future to Everton despite Besiktas links Cenk Tosun is not ready to leave Goodison Park just yet. The forward joined from Besiktas in January of 2018 for a fee of £27 million, and speculation is already rife that he could be heading back to Turkey. Scoring seven goals in 23 appearances, Tosun has taken something of a back-seat role since the arrival of Marco Silva and wonder-kid Richarlison. Nevertheless, Tosun has still made 12 appearances so far this campaign for his club. Speaking to Turkish outlet My Net, Tosun is quoted as saying: “I’ve opened a new page in my career and I’m happy in Everton. The rumours of Besiktas is just gossip,” In four seasons at Besiktas, the centre-forward made himself something of a household name, scoring 64 goals in 142 appearances. The Turkish national team have also been thankful for Tosun’s exploits, capping him on 29 occasions. Despite suggestions that both he and fellow striker Oumar Niasse could be leaving Merseyside, it seems that Tosun himself is eager to remain in the Premier League.

Cenk Tosun ( Turkish : [dʒæɲc ˈtosun]; born 7 June 1991) is a Turkish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Everton and the Turkey national team.

It’s easy to see why the Turkish media has been running rampant with rumours of Cenk Tosun returning to Besiktas in January. The striker is a fan favourite not only at the Black Eagles but pretty much all over the country. Tosun has also struggled both internationally and at Everton this season

Cenk Tosun has been linked with a return to Beskitas less than a year after joining the Toffees.

The Turkish strikers has struggled to settle at Everton and has not shown the goalscoring form that got him signed last January.

SporunDibi claim Besiktas want a loan deal for the striker, who is struggling for game time at Everton.

The striker was subbed off after 70 minutes against Newcastle on Wednesday evening, and failed to make much of a contribution to proceedings.

The report from Turkey also suggests that Besiktas are close in sealing a deal for Tosun.

Four Strikers for Everton in the January Window

Four Strikers for Everton in the January Window Well here we are again, Everton in desperate need for a striker. Since the departure of a certain Belgian forward, Everton have been screaming out for a player of similar calibre. We had Wayne Rooney, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Oumar Niasse and Cenk Tosun all last year, with less-than-terrific results. Marco Silva has certainly attempted to fill the hole with his golden boy Richarlison from Watford, with some success. Richarlison, however, seems to much more effective on the wing and seems to find himself restricted as a number 9. Don’t get me wrong the lad has scored a lot more than first thought, but my thinking is that we would get the best out of our best player if we had someone else scoring the goals, therefore taking the pressure of the young Brazilian’s shoulders.

Everton striker Cenk Tosun has been linked with a return to former club Besiktas after failing to adapt to life in the Premier League. The 27-year-old Everton signed Tosun off the basis of his impressive record in Turkey of 64 goals in 142 appearances for Besiktas, although the striker has failed to

The striker had said he would stay and fight for his place in the side. However, after yet more poof performances, Marco Silva may have finally lost patience with the striker.

Tosun joined Everton last January, and has netted seven times in the league. The striker has not made a huge impact however, especially due to the £27 million Everton paid for the Turk.

I don’t watch Anfield derbies, and I’m pretty sure I’ve made that clear for as long as I’ve been writing these things for the last few years. Sunday afternoon was no exception, so I will not be the absolute voice of authority on what exactly happened as I only cherry-picked some highlights (and lowlights) that I wanted to watch. Yes, that included the Liverpool goal, and all I will say on that regard is that I hope Jordan Pickford gets an immense amount of support on Wednesday evening, as I expect he will. But beyond that, it is a much more encouraging feeling to be coming out of a Merseyside Derby being beaten in the 96th minute as apposed to the usual situation where we are defeated before a ball is kicked. The feedback from the result from many Liverpool fans I know is that they were lucky, and we played the best football we have at Anfield certainly in my lifetime. More importantly than anything however, the fight for sixth is still well and truly our main focus, and we need a run now where we can try to gain some ground on United. The hectic Christmas period is starting, and thus, there will be some rotation in the side.
