Skriniar is being linked with big-money moves away from the San Siro, with the Slovakian now regarded as one of the most promising central defenders on the continent. The Daily Record reports that Porto youngster Eder Militao is on the club’s radar as they continue to search far and wide for defensive reinforcements. United have reportedly been impressed by the player’s development since he arrived in Portugal. Everton and Manchester City have previously been linked with the player, as scouts keep a close eye on his performances. With Skriniar reportedly valued between €80-€100 million by Inter, Militao would certainly be the cheaper option for United.

Everton, along with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, have been touted as a potential destination for the 20-year-old, who arrived at Porto only in the summer transfer window.

The youngster came through the ranks at Sao Paulo and was snapped up by the Portuguese giants after a string of impressive performances in his homeland of Brazil.

With Kurt Zouma only on loan at Everton and Phil Jagielka coming towards the end of his playing days Silva will need to add to his defence either in January or the summer.

Militao’s agent has been discussed his client’s future but had bad news for potential suitors who are eyeing him ahead of the January transfer window.

Jorge, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, told O Jogo that the defender is comfortable at Porto amid the speculation of late. He said:

“All these clubs already had interest in Eder when he was at Sao Paulo. Since the player moved to FC Porto, nobody came to me.”

“Eder is very calm, he is happy at Porto and he is not thinking about anything other than Porto.”

Everton may now look towards alternative defensive targets, should they fail in their apparent pursuit of Militao.

Everton target Gabigol wanted by four Brazilian clubs.
Everton are set for plenty of competition for the signing of rumoured transfer target Gabigol – real name Gabriel Barbosa. According to Premium Sport‘s Andersinho Marques, the striker is wanted by as many as four clubs in his homeland of Brazil. He is thought to be keen on making the grade at current club Inter Milan, but they are looking to offload him, in order to bring in another non-EU signing. The 22-year-old has made just 10 appearances and scored one goal for Inter to date. Gabigol joined from Santos in 2016 but was loaned out to Benfica last season, and is now back at Santos on a temporary basis. Everton are believed to be in the running for his signature, with Marco Silva looking to add more flair to the Blues’ attack. They reportedly held talks with the player’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, as did West Ham. A January move is being mooted, with Gabigol supposedly submitting a request for a work permit to play in the Premier League. The battle for his signature looks likely to be interesting in the coming weeks.
