Tim Tebow will start next season with the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs and Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen said the former NFL quarterback is now "one step away" from the big leagues.

"I believe that if Tim is good enough to help us out at the Major League level he'll play there," Van Wagenen said Wednesday during an interview with WFAN's Mike's On. "He's not going to want a courtesy shot at the big leagues. He's going to have to earn it."

Van Wagenen is also Tebow's former agent and added that if he can outplay his competition at this level, he'll make his way to the MLB club.
