Maddison set for Leicester return but Vardy and Maguire miss out

Maddison set for Leicester return but Vardy and Maguire miss out Leicester City manager Claude Puel has confirmed that James Maddison will be fit enough to be named in the squad to face Brighton on Saturday. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, as reported by Sky Sports News, Puel confirmed that Maddison has recovered well after dropping out of the England squad through injury. “Maddison came back in training, he can be in the squad. For Maguire, it is too early. Jamie [Vardy] had a pain in the last game and came back today. We’ll see tomorrow.” However, it is not such good news for ex-England international Jamie Vardy, who remains a doubt for the game. The meeting with Brighton has also come too quickly for defender Harry Maguire, who will not be involved in the clash at the AMEX. The Foxes are looking to make it four games without defeat on Saturday and they know that three points could take them into touching distance of the top six if other results go their way. Meanwhile, Brighton will themselves hope to get back to winning ways after losing to league strugglers Cardiff prior to the international break.

The England international is happy to stay where he is after constant speculation about a move following his exploits in Russia.

After Riyad Mahrez's departure to Manchester City, Leicester City boss Claude Puel maintains the club must keep hold of Harry Maguire .

Claude Puel has revealed that he expects Harry Maguire to remain at Leicester City beyond the January transfer window.

Speaking about the defender’s future, as reported by Sky Sports, Puel said that the England international is happy at the King Power, despite rumours linking him with Manchester United.

“We cannot ever guarantee, but he decided this summer to remain with us, to play a full season. He is happy with us, he saw the quality of the team, the ambition, his fantastic team-mates, and of course for Harry or other valuable players of the club, it’s important to keep our best players until the end of the season and continue this work.”

Leicester rejected United’s approach in the summer, despite talk of bids in the region of £60 million coming in for Maguire.

United remain keen to strengthen defensively and rumours have suggested that the club could come back in for him in January.

Mourinho missed out on a number of targets during the previous transfer window and will be keen to avoid a repeat of the same in the new year.

Leicester not expected to make any January signings.
Leicester City are bracing themselves for a quiet January transfer window in terms of players coming in. The Leicester Mercury claims that they do not expect any players to be arriving through the doors at the King Power Stadium in the new year. Manager Claude Puel is said to be happy with the players that he has at his disposal ahead of the January window. Leicester have scarcely been linked with players in the build-up to the transfer window, with fans offered very little hope about who could come into the club. While there may not be too many arriving, there is still likely to be speculation over the futures of a number of first-team players. The likes of Vicente Iborra and Harry Maguire continue to be linked with moves away from the King Power. Maguire is still believed to be a target for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, with the Red Devils eager to strengthen at the back.
