The Dodgers had the eighth-best bullpen ERA in MLB last season at 3.72, per Fangraphs, but Los Angeles had a lucky season as it had a combined .286 batting average on balls in play (BABIP), which was the seventh best in all of baseball.

Many pundits were encouraging the Dodgers to improve the back end of their pen throughout the 2018 season and the lack of an addition of a big arm came back to bite them in the postseason. Los Angeles posted a 6.09 ERA in the World Series as it gave up 14 runs in 20 2/3 innings.
