Forest to rival Leeds in pursuit of Karl Darlow

Forest to rival Leeds in pursuit of Karl Darlow Nottingham Forest are interested in a deal to re-sign goalkeeper Karl Darlow and are expected to rival Leeds for the shot-stopper. According to Football Insider, the goalkeeper is a man in demand and Forest are keen to snap him up in January. Leeds have been heavily linked with a move for Darlow but the race to sign him is beginning to heat up. Darlow has fallen out of favour at Newcastle and is finding game time hard to come by with Martin Dubravka comfortably holding down the number one spot at St James’ Park. With the club also excited about the development of Freddie Woodman, it is hard to see where Darlow features in their plans going forward. Despite being once highly-rated at Forest, Darlow has seen his career stall since his big Premier League move. Forest, who themselves boast promotion aspirations, are keen to offer him a route back to his boyhood club.

The former Middlesbrough coach Aitor Karanka has been named the new manager of Nottingham Forest .

Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka has told BBC Sport that the club is 'doing well' in it's pursuit of striker Karim Ansarifard, with a deal potentially close. Whilst some still aren't convinced by Karanka 's side, Forest have only lost twice this season, and are hard to beat even if they aren't always exciting

Aitor Karanka has left his role as manager of Nottingham Forest after the club agreed to release him from his contract.

Speculation has been building over recent weeks that the Spaniard's days at the City Ground were numbered, amid rumours of a major fall-out with the club's hierarchy.

Karanka was appointed in January last year, having been sacked by Middlesbrough in March 2017 with the club heading for relegation from the Premier League.

His last game in charge of Forest was Saturday's 2-0 FA Cup third-round defeat at Chelsea. His most recent Championship outing was an impressive 4-2 defeat of leaders Leeds United on New Year's Day, a triumph which ended a five-match winless run and leaves Forest just one place and four points outside the play-offs.

"Aitor Karanka has asked to be released from his contract as the manager of Nottingham Forest Football Club," a brief statement read.

"The club have agreed to this request and the terms of departure have been agreed. Both parties wish each other every success for the future. There will be no further comment from either party.

"Simon Ireland will take charge of first-team affairs until a new manager is appointed."

Nottingham Forest appoint club legend O'Neill as new manager.
