Southampton keen on deal for Elabdellaoui

Southampton keen on deal for Elabdellaoui Southampton are eyeing up a deal for Olympiacos right-back Omar Elabdellaoui in January. According to the Daily Mail, Southampton want to bring in the Norwegian to strengthen their defensive options. Ralph Hasenhuttl has been forced to play academy players Yan Valery and Kayne Ramsay at right-back in recent weeks, despite Cedric Soares being fit and available. The Austrian boss is now hoping to sign Elabdellaoui to become his first-choice right-back for the second-half of the season. Southampton are currently above the relegation zone on goal difference, with just under half the Premier League season to play. Elabdellaoui has Premier League experience under his belt, having played eight games on loan to Hull in the 2016/17 season. He has been in impressive form for Olympiacos, with two goals and five assists from right-back. The 27-year-old has also captained his country, Norway, and shown that he can compete at a high level.

Omar Elabdellaoui (born 5 December 1991) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays for Greek club Olympiacos. He plays primarily as a right back but can also play as a right midfielder.

Celtic are lining up a move for Norway international Omar Elabdellaoui, according to the Daily Record.

The Olympiakos right-back is valued at £4million and the Hoops are seemingly willing to take a punt on him.

They see him as an ideal man to come in and bolster their squad in January, as they aim to complete an unprecedented ‘treble treble’ this season.

Celtic are searching for a long-term replacement for Mikael Lustig, with the 32-year-old entering the twilight of his career.

Elabdellaoui’s current deal at Olympiakos doesn’t expire until 2021, but Celtic are still confident of getting their man.

Belgium international Timothy Castagne is another option they have looked at, although Atalanta are demanding £10million for his services.

Elabdellaoui started his career at Manchester City, joining the Premier League champions at the age of just 16.

He also spent a spell on loan at Hull City in 2017, so he has experience of British football.

Celtic set for transfer meeting over potential McCarthy deal.
Celtic are set for transfer talks on Wednesday as they debate whether they will make a move for Everton midfielder James McCarthy. According to Sky Sports journalist Jim White, Celtic are discussing the possibility of signing Omar Elabdellaoui and, or, McCarthy this month. Jim White says that Celtic hold an interest in both players and will decide if they are going to attempt to sign them in the next few weeks of the transfer window. McCarthy is out-of-favour at Everton and found game time hard to come by this season, so could be tempted by a loan move to Scotland until the end of the season.
