According to Sky Sports, Sunderland offered Maja seven times his current salary, but he has turned down the contract. Since joining the club in 2010, Koscielny has played over 300 games for Arsenal in all competitions and is the club captain.

Unai Emery is short on defensive options at the moment and will be glad to have the experience of Koscielny at the back for the rest of the campaign.
