Reported Newcastle target Kiko Casilla closes in on a move to Leeds United, according to Sky Sports News.

In early December, Calciomercato reported that the Magpies were keen to add the Real Madrid goalkeeper to their ranks this month, with Rafa Benitez keen to strengthen his squad.

However it now looks likely that the Lilywhites will complete a deal to sign the three-time Champions League winner, with the move proving to be yet another huge deal for the Championship.

While Casilla was a target for the Tyneside club, that position isn’t one of paramount importance to the Spanish coach, with a full-back and striker said to top Benitez’ wish-list.

Whether Newcastle will be able to spend much this month is still up for debate, with the former Liverpool manager’s relationship with owner Mike Ashley notoriously strained.

Newcastle considering January move for Kemar Roofe.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is reportedly considering making a move for Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe, if funds are made available in January, the Mirror report. The Magpies have struggled in front of goal across the course of the campaign, finding the back just 15 times in their opening 20 Premier League fixtures. Roofe on the other hand has had no trouble in finding the back of the net for The Whites, helping Marcelo Bielsa’s side to the top of the Championship with 13 league strikes. The 25-year-old made the move to Elland Road from Oxford United in 2016 for a fee worth £3 million, with Roofe making over 100 first-team appearances since arriving in Yorkshire. Newcastle boss Benitez is reportedly keen on a move for the natural goalscorer, however, funds for new signings have not been guaranteed to the Spaniard, and it looks like it will take a large fee in order to bring Roofe to St James’ Park in the new year.
