Speaking about Celtic’s plans to spend little more money this month, as reported by the Express, the former Liverpool manager said:

“The model of the club is value and maximising that value and talent and development and see it grow at the club.”

“The young players who have come in fit that model.”

“My job was to develop that, increase that talent within and hopefully they can do a great job for Celtic, whether they are loan signings or a permanent signing.”

Rodgers is, however, still in the market for more additions, and has recently been linked with a swoop for Olympiakos defender Omar Elabdellaoui and young American defender Manny Perez.

Talking about the potential for new additions, Rodgers continued saying:

“There are still positions where we would like to get folk in.”

“The second part of the season is about bringing in more offensive threat and giving us more options.”

“In the first part of the season, you could see that we were not ideal, having to play players out of position and whatnot.”

“But bringing these guys in supports those already here and once we get the injured players back as well that gives us something to look forward to.”

Rodgers reveals plans for Maryan Shved.
Brendan Rodgers doesn’t believe Maryan Shved will play for Celtic this season should he sign for the club, according to the Daily Record. The 21-year-old winger is hoping to complete a deal with the Hoops before the transfer deadline at the end of the month. Shved looks set to join for £1.75million from Karpaty Lviv, as Rodgers continues to add to his squad. The Ukrainian will be loaned out until the end of the season, though, rather than kept at Celtic, with their options already strong currently. He is seen as one for the future, having won his first cap for Turkey back in November.
