Arsenal player ratings: Chelsea (H) Arsenal rekindled their hopes of a top-four finish by beating London rivals Chelsea 2-0 at the Emirates stadium. Goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny were enough for the hosts, who were good value for the win. The Gunners began the game in a fiery manner, pressing the Chelsea build-up and forcing mistakes from the visitors. Unai Emery deployed a diamond midfield formation, something with which the Blues succumbed to at Tottenham a few weeks ago. Maurizio Sarri’s men had no answer to that today as well.

Arsenal’s hopes of securing a top-four finish took a blow on Sunday afternoon as they fell to a 3-1 loss away to Manchester City.

A Sergio Aguero hat-trick, admittedly a controversial one as his third goal looked like a clear handball, was enough to sink the Gunners, who had pulled the game back to 1-1 at one point when Laurent Koscielny cancelled out Aguero’s early opener.

The result, combined with wins for Chelsea and Manchester United over the weekend, sees Arsenal sit in sixth place, three points behind the fourth-placed Blues.

Here’s how we rated the Arsenal players in the game:

Arsenal Player Ratings: BATE Borisov (A).
Arsenal suffered a disappointing first-leg defeat at the hands of BATE Borisov in Belarus in the Europa League round of 32. Stanislav Dragun scored the only goal of the game to seal the win for the hosts, who were good value for the victory. On the other hand, Unai Emery’s men lacked creativity, didn’t have much penetration and conceded from a set-piece. The goal was scored at the stroke of half-time when Dragun evaded his marker to find space in the box to head the ball into the back of the net. Igor Stasevich’s delivery was perfect to dovetail with the run made by the midfielder.
