Lucas Piazon reveals he turned down Juventus to join Chelsea

Lucas Piazon reveals he turned down Juventus to join Chelsea Lucas Piazon has revealed that he turned down an opportunity to join Serie A champions Juventus before signing for Chelsea back in 2011, Football Italia reports. The winger joined Chievo Verona on loan, the sixth temporary club he’s signed for since he arrived at Stamford Bridge, with an option to buy at the end of the season. The deal sees Piazon play in Italy for the first time in his career, but he could have moved there much sooner as he revealed he had opted to join Chelsea ahead of Juventus when he left Sao Paulo to move to Europe aged just 17.

Jamie Carragher did not hold back in his criticism of Sarri. "This is as bad as anything they’ve done. Looking at Sarri, the worst thing I can say is that he's turned Chelsea into Arsenal . "They are getting battered in big games because they are too weak. You could never say that about Chelsea in the past."

Maurizio Sarri has turned Chelsea into Arsene Wenger’s weak Arsenal team - Jamie Carragher . Carragher was speaking at half time of Chelsea ’s visit to Manchester City on Sunday. City raced into a 4-0 lead at the Etihad after just 25 minutes of action, with Sergio Aguero netting twice.

Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea have turned into Arsenal, in terms of having a soft centre.

The Blues suffered a humiliating afternoon at the office on Sunday, after being dismantled 6-0 by champions Manchester City.

The game was embarrassingly one-sided from moment the Raheem Sterling netted early on and City could have scored more.

During the Roman Abramovich era, Chelsea have been famed for being hard to beat and possessing strong characters.

That no longer appears to be the case under Maurizio Sarri, however – something Carragher highlighted during Sky Sports‘ coverage on Sunday.

"It doesn't feel right" at Liverpool, says Carragher

Jamie Carragher believes something “doesn’t feel right” at Liverpool after back-to-back draws in the Premier League. The Reds could only get a point at West Ham on Monday evening, drawing 1-1 and never coming close to finding their best form at the London Stadium. Injuries are beginning to pile up and a tired-looking display is worrying, considering the squad only recently returned from a training camp in Dubai. Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher criticised Jurgen Klopp’s decision to sell Nathaniel Clyne on loan and bemoaned the current level of performance: “It was a really poor performance. So many players performed so poorly.

Chelsea fans were left wanting to restart the match after watching their team go 4-0 down against City after 25 minutes. During half time, Carragher put a lot Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher put a lot of the blame on Maurizio Sarri. He says the manager has ' turned Chelsea into Arsenal ' - poor in big

Two goals from Sergio Aguero and strikes from Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan gave the champions a 4-0 lead after 25 minutes at the Etihad.

The former Liverpool defender believes Chelsea now resemble Arsenal, and not in a good way:

“City have been outstanding, but this has been as bad as anything from Chelsea this season.”

“It’s only halfway through Sarri’s first season but the worst thing I can say is it looks like he has turned Chelsea into Arsenal.”

“The Arsenal team that has got battered away from home in the last seven or eight years because they have been too weak. You couldn’t say that about Chelsea in the past, but this looks like a weak team.”

“The first goal is criminal from [Marcos] Alonso. It’s so casual three or four minutes into a big game. He was not switched on at all.”

Sarri now finds himself under huge pressure, following one of the worst defeats in Blues history.

There are question marks surrounding the players’ attitude towards the manager and a top-four finish now looks increasingly unlikely.

The defeat saw Chelsea drop to sixth in the Premier League table.

Sarri claims Guardiola is "lucky" to still have his job.
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has branded Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola “lucky” to still be in charge of the club. Sarri is the latest Premier League manager to come under intense scrutiny and is bookmakers favourite to be next sacked. The Blues will face Guardiola’s Cityzens side on Sunday in the EFL Cup final, and the Italian coach has fired a shot at the Spaniard, claiming he is lucky to still have his current job.
