Youssouf Mulumbu wanted by Derby and Kilmarnock

Youssouf Mulumbu wanted by Derby and Kilmarnock Frank Lampard’s Derby County are interested in a deadline day swoop to sign Youssouf Mulumbu. According to the Express, as cited on the Daily Record, both Derby and Kilmarnock are considering moves for the player. Mulumbu has failed to break into Brendan Rodgers’ plans this season after joining the club during the previous summer transfer window. After impressing in Scotland last season, Celtic moved quickly to secure his signature, with Rodgers looking to add experience to his squad.

Youssouf Mulumbu (born 25 January 1987) is a Congolese professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Kilmarnock. Born in Kinshasa, Zaire, Mulumbu joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2004.

Youssouf Mulumbu says he still hopes to have a future at Celtic, despite being loaned out to Kilmarnock.

The midfielder made the switch to the Hoops’ Premiership rivals last month, joining until the end of the season.

First-team opportunities were struggling to come Mulumbu’s way, not helped by the meteoric rise of Ryan Christie in the middle of the park.

It is unknown whether the 32-year-old has a future at Parkhead but he is still holding out hope.

Mulumbu told the Scotsman that his relationship with Brendan Rodgers is healthy and he looks forward to proving himself in the summer:

Brown signs two-year contract extension at Celtic

Brown signs two-year contract extension at Celtic Celtic captain Scott Brown has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension. The club have confirmed that Brown will extend his stay at the club and in turn has rejected lucrative offers from elsewhere. In what is a major boost to both Brendan Rodgers and Celtic, Brown has turned down the opportunity to move to the A-League, where Western Melbourne were particularly keen to sign the player. After being granted permission to join the A-League, they were keen to snap up the Celtic skipper, on what would have been a big-money deal for Brown.

“I spoke with the manager at Celtic and he said that, if I could get some games by being on loan, he’d let me go.”

“We are on good terms and I came to Kilmarnock with confidence and a little bit of disappointment, so I need to show I’m a good player and that’s what I intend to do.”

“It’s a great club and my team-mates were amazing with me. I’m here for six months to help Kilmarnock and if I do everything right and if we achieve something very good, I know I’ll be back at Celtic in the summer and everything can change from there.”

“In my head, it’s not over at Celtic. If you speak with Brendan and the lads, they know I want to go back and do great things for them.”

Mulumbu was named Man of the Match in Kilmarnock’s 0-0 draw with Rangers at the weekend, as his career at his new temporary club got off to a strong start.

Whether or not he is retained by Celtic after the summer remains to be seen, but an impressive stint at Killie would certainly do no harm to his chances.

Celtic fans name Henderson as their Man of the Match against Motherwell.
Celtic fans have hailed the performance of young midfielder Ewan Henderson after his impressive display against Motherwell on Sunday. Henderson, the younger brother of former Celtic star Liam Henderson, made his first start for the Hoops during the 4-1 win and gave supporters plenty to be excited about going forward. After the game, we asked supporters who they rated as Celtic’s best player during the victory. After hundreds of votes, 91% of votes cast were in favour of the young midfielder. Odsonne Edouard was a close second at 80%, while the versatile Kristoffer Ajer came in with 56% of votes.
