Southgate to contact Rice with regards to international decision

Southgate to contact Rice with regards to international decision Declan Rice seems to be no closer to deciding whom he wants to represent at an international level. Having turned out for the Republic of Ireland at numerous age groups – including the senior side – the defensive midfielder still has time to change, due to having not appeared in a competitive match for the Emerald Isle. As such, England fans have been holding out hope the 20-year-old would switch his allegiance. Born in London, Rice qualifies for Ireland through his grandparents, who hail from County Cork in the southern reaches of the country.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is ready to go above and beyond to ensure that Aaron Wan-Bissaka has a bright future at international level.

As reported by the Independent, Hodgson explains that he will be waiting for the call to come from Gareth Southgate to discuss the young defender.

Many are tipping Wan-Bissaka to break into the England squad in the near future after consistently impressing in the Premier League.

“At the moment he [Southgate] hasn’t done that. We’ve quite often talked about the English players that we have, and it has been on general terms. I’ll wait for that moment when the day comes and he actually says ‘right, I really want your serious opinion about Bissaka and how good he can possibly be at full senior international level’, and I’ll tell him what I think.”

“If he ever does want to hear my honest opinion on the player, then I’ll certainly be happy to give it to him. I won’t be contacting him to give him an opinion and I’m certainly not making any claims for anybody, Bissaka or anyone else for an England place. I leave that totally and utterly up to the England coach.”

After breaking through at Palace, Wan-Bissaka has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the Premier League.

So much so, his performances have not gone unnoticed, with many of the ‘big six’ taking note.

Palace could well face a fight to keep hold of Wan-Bissaka beyond the summer transfer window, but it is clear to see that the youngster has a bright future ahead of him for both club and country.

Double injury blow for Palace ahead of Leicester clash.
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that defensive duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Martin Kelly will both miss the Premier League clash with Leicester City on Saturday, as reported on the official club website. Watch it live!… (@CPFC) Both defenders have picked up slight problems which has ruled them out of the trip to the King Power Stadium.
