Maurizio Sarri has explained his decision to snub a handshake with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Sunday.

Speaking after the heavy defeat, as reported by the Mirror, Sarri played down any talk of unrest between the two managers.

After the full-time whistle had gone, Guardiola made his way over to Sarri for a handshake but Sarri claimed he was unaware as he headed straight down the tunnel.

The Manchester City boss was left with Gianfranco Zola and the rest of the Chelsea staff.

The pair are known to maintain a good relationship, which made Sarri’s actions even more surprising to see.

The shamed Chelsea head coach will now be watching over his shoulder carefully, with some tough games on the horizon.

Chelsea face Malmo in Sweden on Thursday night before a tough FA Cup game against high-flying Manchester United.
