Henderson heaps praise on rapidly improving Keita

Henderson heaps praise on rapidly improving Keita Jordan Henderson has lauded the ability of Naby Keita, saying he is adjusting to life at Liverpool all the time. Keita arrived from RB Leipzig with a huge reputation last summer, a year after officially agreeing to join the Reds. It has been a frustrating first season on Merseyside, however, with few influential performances on show and other midfielders often selected ahead of him. There have been clear signs of improvement in recent weeks, however, not least during an excellent display in the 3-0 win at home to Bournemouth.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has praised Yan Valery for his performance in the team’s 3-2 defeat at Manchester United.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the match, the Austrian was quick to lavish praise on the young defender following his first ever goal in senior football.

Valery opened the scoring with a thunderous effort from outside the box on the right-hand side.

However, his goal would eventually count for little as Manchester United were able to secure a late victory in front of their home fans.

Puel heaps praise on opposite number Hodgson

Puel heaps praise on opposite number Hodgson Claude Puel has described Roy Hodgson as “fantastic”, as the Crystal Palace manager becomes the oldest Premier League’s manager in history. Hodgson will be 71 years and 199 old when Palace visit Leicester City on Saturday evening. That usurps the original record set by Bobby Robson during his last game as Newcastle United boss, when he was 71 years and 191 days. It is a special moment for Hodgson, as he aims to steer Palace clear of relegation between now and the end of the season.

Romelu Lukaku’s brace after Andreas Pereira’s curling effort meant that Valery’s wonder-goal and James Ward-Prowse’s free-kick were rendered insufficient as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men took all three points.

Nevertheless, Hasenhuttl took the positives from the defeat and highlighted the Frenchman as a standout performer in the match on Saturday afternoon. He said:

“That’s something you demand from a young player. He gets the trust from us and then I want to see a brave player who is believing in himself and Yan made a fantastic development until now.”

“Defensively he is better now and also offensively that’s exactly the way we want to go. I’m very happy for him that he scored for the first time, it was a fantastic goal and to shoot like this at Old Trafford shows how confident he is.”
