Hodgson saddened by Ranieri sacking

Hodgson saddened by Ranieri sacking Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson admits he is saddened to see Claudio Ranieri sacked by Fulham, claiming he ‘did nothing professionally’ to deserve it. The Cottagers pulled the trigger and sacked Ranieri earlier on Thursday, just 106 days after he was appointed as Slavisa Jokanovic’s successor, with the Italian winning just three of his 17 games in charge. Former Fulham midfielder and coach Scott Parker has been placed in charge temporarily in a caretaker role until the end of the season.

Roy Hodgson (born 9 August 1947) is an English football manager and former player, currently managing Premier League club Crystal Palace .

Roy Hodgson has revealed Crystal Palace’s injury news ahead of their trip to Watford this weekend, with Wayne Hennessey confirmed to be returning for the Eagles.

Palace had been without their preferred shot stopper, but will have the Welshman back for the trip to Vicarage Road.

Speaking at the press conference, Hodgson also revealed several pieces of injury news, including updates on Bakary Sako and Mamadou Sakho.

No, nothing really [injury-wise]. Wayne Hennessey’s fit again, Bakary Sako’s not trained but isn’t far from being fit, and Mamadou is recovering from his operation. It will be a while before he’s in rehab. Pape’s okay.

Palace have had an indifferent run of form, losing only 2 of their last five but only picking up the two wins to go alongside it.

They will be looking to pick up some valuable points against Watford, who sit in eighth place in the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Palace continue to look over their backs, with the Eagles sitting only 7 points off the 40 point mark that would more than likely keep them in the Premier League.

Zaha and Wan-Bissaka train ahead of Huddersfield test.
Crystal Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka both trained ahead of the Premier League clash with Huddersfield Town, as reported on the official club website. Both players were forced to withdraw from international duties after suffering injuries but manager Roy Hodgson is hopeful that both will be fit to play tomorrow. Hodgson said: “They’ve both been nursing injuries. However, they were out in training this morning, so if nothing happens in terms of reaction overnight, I’m hoping they will be fit to play but it is touch-and-go.” Palace go into the match knowing that anything other than three points would be a disappointment.
