Manchester United identify Wan-Bissaka as key summer transfer target

Manchester United identify Wan-Bissaka as key summer transfer target Manchester United have marked out Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a key transfer target for the summer. The Croydon-native burst into the Crystal Palace team at the beginning of this season, nailing down his spot in the starting XI with a series of accomplished performances. And as the campaign has drawn on, the 21-year-old has only seemed to get better. Consequently, it was always likely the defender would catch the eye of some of the biggest teams in the Premier League, and it’s United who are said to have the strongest interest in signing the England U21 star.

Aaron Wan - Bissaka (born 26 November 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Crystal Palace as a right-back.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says that he is not concerned by Aaron Wan-Bissaka missing out on a place in the England squad.

Wan-Bissaka has been highly praised for his performances this season, but was not named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers this month.

The young right-back was, instead, named in the under-21 squad, with Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker and Trent Alexander-Arnold making the senior squad in his position.

Speaking to The Mirror, former England boss Hodgson said this:

Wan-Bissaka returns from injury for Burnley test

Wan-Bissaka returns from injury for Burnley test Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has recovered from injury and is fit to face Burnley tomorrow, according to a report on Football London. The Eagles travel to Turf Moor to face a Burnley side who have been in good form. Wan-Bissaka was forced to miss Palace’s clashes with Leicester City and Manchester United with a hamstring problem. Joel Ward filled in at right-back during Wan-Bissaka’s absence and even managed to get his name on the scoresheet against United in the 3-1 defeat. Hodgson said: “Aaron Wan-Bissaka is fit again. That’s a boost for us.

“He is picked for the England U21s which in itself is a very, very big honour.”

“It is good to know that reading Gareth’s comments that he is obviously aware of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and what he can do.”

“I don’t think Aaron, myself or anyone at the club should start to jumping onto media speculation regarding the player. It is up to him to keep playing well.”

Wan-Bissaka has been a regular at right-back for Palace this season, after initially breaking into the side towards the end of the previous campaign.

He is also eligible to represent DR Congo at international level, through his family.

Zaha and Wan-Bissaka train ahead of Huddersfield test.
Crystal Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka both trained ahead of the Premier League clash with Huddersfield Town, as reported on the official club website. Both players were forced to withdraw from international duties after suffering injuries but manager Roy Hodgson is hopeful that both will be fit to play tomorrow. Hodgson said: “They’ve both been nursing injuries. However, they were out in training this morning, so if nothing happens in terms of reaction overnight, I’m hoping they will be fit to play but it is touch-and-go.” Palace go into the match knowing that anything other than three points would be a disappointment.
