Celtic have "no chance" of signing Benkovic

Celtic have Celtic have “no chance” of signing Filip Benkovic on a permanent basis this summer, according to the Express. The 21-year-old is currently on loan from Leicester City and has made 26 appearances for the Hoops this season. It looks as though former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to take him back to the King Power Stadium next season, however. It was Rodgers who brought Benkovic to Parkhead in the first place last summer, clearly rating the centre-back highly. The Croatian has shone in a Celtic shirt and there was hope that he could be retained permanently. Rodgers sees Benkovic as someone who can thrive in the Premier League, though, putting paid to any potential deal.

Sviatchenko joins the Celts from Danish side FC Midtjylland where he won the top flight championship as club captain last season. That success propelled the Superliga side into the UEFA Europa League where they are set to face Manchester United in the knockout stages of the competition, but Celtic ’s

Former Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko says that he enjoyed his time at the club and does not feel sour about the way in which it ended.

The centre-back left Celtic on a permanent deal last summer, after being loaned out in January 2018 – two years after he joined the club.

Sviatchenko signed for Celtic in January 2016 from Danish side Midtjylland, rejoining them again in January 2018 on loan.

In his two years at Celtic, Sviatchenko lifted five trophies and experienced Champions League football.

Griffiths to make phased return to Celtic training

Griffiths to make phased return to Celtic training Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has not played yet in 2019 due to mental health concerns, but he is set to link up with the champions again.

Moving to Celtic , Erik Sviatchenko resolved to broaden his mind. 'One day I will sit down with him and ask what I should have done different': Erik Sviatchenko admits leaving Celtic was hard as he says Brendan Rodgers never explained why he was let go.

CELTIC are in a completely different position to where they were 12 months ago, but Erik Sviatchenko intends to heed the lessons of Lincoln Red Imps as the Domestically, they would go the entire season unbeaten to become Invincibles and also clinch the treble for only the fourth time in the club’s history.

The Dane says that he is very thankful to then Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers for giving him the opportunity to play at that level.

As quoted by InsideFutbol, Sviatchenko said this:

“I am a very positive person. ”

“I don’t look back and think of my time at Celtic as anything sour. It was a beautiful experience for me and for my family. I loved it. ”

“I have Brendan to thank for some of the biggest games of my career.”

“I played Champions League football and fulfilled a dream of mine to play in that environment.”

“That Invincible season was so special and I have amazing memories of it.”

Celtic target Memisevic signs new deal.
Samir Memisevic has signed a new deal at Groningen, Inside Futbol have confirmed. The defender has been a reported summer transfer target for Celtic, as Neil Lennon looks to bolster his squad. The 25-year-old’s new contract is thought to run until the middle of 2021, in what represents a blow to the Hoops. Memisevic is capable of thriving as either a right-back or a centre-back, shining for Groningen this season. He also has two caps for Bosnia, making his debut in a 3-1 defeat to Spain back in May 2016. Now that Memisevic has committed his future to Groningen, Celtic will have to look elsewhere for reinforcements.
