West Ham star Declan Rice has been linked with a huge move to 13-time Champions League winners Real Madrid, as the European giants are “speaking to his family” according to ex-Hammer Scott Minto.

The 20-year-old first broke into the starting XI this season and he has arguably been West Ham’s most impressive player this campaign.

He’s made 35 appearances and he was rewarded for his fine form with his first England cap in March.

His form seems to have attracted interest from the world’s elite, and according to Minto – who spent four years with the Hammers between 1999 and 2003 – Real Madrid are one of the clubs interested in the young Englishman.

Speaking on Stadium Astro, as cited on the Daily Star, the former left-back said:

“He’s getting better and better with every game. It was a big decision to leave Republic of Ireland and move to England. but he was clearly told that he has a massive future. I’m hearing that even Real Madrid are knocking on the door and speaking to his family. That’s what I’m hearing.”

Minto refused to reveal where this information comes from but the 47-year-old insisted that it is from a “reliable source”.

The former West Ham star believes that if Rice continues to develop as he is doing, all the big clubs in the world will be vying for his signature.

“Man United will be knocking on the door. The big boys of the Premier League and world football will be saying this is a young lad at a club that could sell for the right price. He could become one of the stars in that particular position.”
