Russell Wilson won't be with the Seahawks beyond 2019 if the two sides don't agree on a contract extension by midnight Monday.

According to ESPN, which cited unidentified sources, the Seattle quarterback is sticking to his April 15 deadline of getting a new deal done with the team.

While the midnight deadline is imposing, ESPN reported that both sides still are working hard to reach some sort of agreement.

If Wilson doesn't get the extension he desires, he will still attend all training camps and activities and will play during the 2019 season.

However, that doesn't mean he's free to go in 2020 — the Seahawks likely will place the franchise tag on Wilson. It's up to him if he wants to sign the tag, or sit out as negotiations continue.

In 2015, Wilson also set an extension deadline, but that wasn't until training camp started, giving the Seahawks a little time after that year's draft to get their affairs in order.

According to one report, the legalization of sports betting in various states — and maybe across the country in the near future — has Wilson thinking of his contract from a different perspective, especially if the salary cap is impacted.

Wilson, 30, is entering the final year of his four-year, $87.6 million deal. When he signed that deal, he was the NFL's second-highest-paid quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers, averaging $22 million per year.

Rodgers recently jumped back up to the highest-paid quarterback, averaging $33.5 million per year with $103 million in guaranteed money.
