Atalanta to demand €50m for Duvan Zapata

Atalanta to demand €50m for Duvan Zapata Atalanta are set to demand a fee of €50m for in-form forward Duvan Zapata in the summer. According to Calcio Mercato, Atalanta want €50m for the striker, who has been on fire in the Serie A this season. The Colombian international has scored 19 league goals for the club, as well as adding five assists. West Ham have been linked with a swoop for the striker, with Calcio Mercato claiming that Inter Milan are also interested in sealing a deal as they look to bolster their squad at the end of the season. Inter are looking to replace Mauro Icardi, who has been frozen out of the first-team picture at the San Siro. He was relieved of the captaincy earlier this season.

Atalanta have slapped a large price tag on striker and West Ham target Duvan Zapata, with interest in the Italian club’s star man heating up.

The 28-year old forward has been in electric form in the Serie A this season for Atalanta, having scored 20 league goals in 30 appearances. Such has his form been impressive that he has attracted a number of potential new suitors, including Premier League duo Chelsea and the Hammers.

The Colombia international is currently undergoing a two-year loan spell with Atalanta from fellow Serie A side Sampdoria, and La Dea are keen to invoke their option to buy clause this summer, which sets Zapata’s price at just €26million.

Milan make contact over deal for Celtic target Castagne

Milan make contact over deal for Celtic target Castagne AC Milan appear to have stepped up their interest in signing Celtic target Timothy Castagne this summer. The Belgian confirmed recently that the Hoops had established a ‘concrete’ interest in signing him during the January transfer window, but Atalanta had demanded a fee worth at least €12 million for their player. It seems the Italian club’s valuation of Castagne put Celtic off a deal midway through the season, and the Scottish Premiership table-toppers are now at risk of missing out on the wide player’s signature.

With interested clubs willing to pay top dollar though, the club are open to selling on their top goalscorer for a profit.

According to Calciomercato, Atalanta would be willing to sell Zapata for €50million (£43.1million), which could prove difficult for West Ham.

The London club, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, failed with a £35million offer for Zapata in January, and with interest having since increased in the experienced forward, the additional fee required could prove too much for the club.

With other younger stars such as Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez linked with switches for similar fees, the Hammers may need to prioritise and subsequently miss out on signing the Colombian.

Atalanta set €50m price tag for West Ham target Zapata.
Serie A side Atalanta would be willing to accept an offer in the region of €50m for in-demand striker and West Ham target Duvan Zapata, according to La Gazzetta dello, cited by calciomercato.com. The 28-year-old, who has plied his trade in Italy since 2013, has been in fine form for his current employers this season, which has attracted interest across Europe. Zapata has challenged Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo for the top scorer award in Italy this season, with the Hammers and fellow Premier League side Newcastle United just two teams interested in the Colombian’s services in the summer.
