Celtic target Memisevic signs new deal

Celtic target Memisevic signs new deal Samir Memisevic has signed a new deal at Groningen, Inside Futbol have confirmed. The defender has been a reported summer transfer target for Celtic, as Neil Lennon looks to bolster his squad. The 25-year-old’s new contract is thought to run until the middle of 2021, in what represents a blow to the Hoops. Memisevic is capable of thriving as either a right-back or a centre-back, shining for Groningen this season. He also has two caps for Bosnia, making his debut in a 3-1 defeat to Spain back in May 2016. Now that Memisevic has committed his future to Groningen, Celtic will have to look elsewhere for reinforcements.

Celtic are reportedly interested in landing Wigan Athletic star Nick Powell this summer.

The Hoops were linked with a move to sign the midfielder during the January transfer window, but he stayed put at the DW Stadium to finish the season with the Latics.

However, as the summer draws ever closer, it seems the race for Powell’s signature is on. According to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, Celtic are among the clubs who have established an interest in signing him.

The Scottish Premiership leaders are likely to focus on bolstering their squad in the upcoming transfer window, and Powell appears to be a target of theirs.

Celtic will face competition from a plethora of sides from across Europe, though, with rivals Rangers also in the hunt for his signature.

Powell, according to TEAMtalk, is also admired by Bundesliga duo Borussia Monchengladbach and RB Leipzig, while Turkish giants Fenerbahce are also keen.

However, it is claimed that the ex-Manchester United youngster would favour a move to a British side. Premier League pair Burnley and Brighton and Hove Albion are named as potential suitors, and Championship promotion hopefuls Norwich City and Derby County are interested.

Celtic looking to re-sign Roberts.
Celtic are keen on bringing Patrick Roberts back to the club this summer, according to Football Insider. The 22-year-old spent three successful seasons on loan at Parkhead from Manchester City between 2015 and 2018, winning seven trophies. He proved to be a popular player during that period, thriving under Brendan Rodgers and scoring 18 goals in 79 appearances for the Hoops. Roberts has failed to kick on since leaving Celtic, however, with a poor loan spell at La Liga side Girona curtailing his progress. It is difficult to see him fitting into City’s plans moving forward and Celtic reportedly want to re-sign him.
