NHL playoffs 2019: Warren Foegele sets Hurricanes record for fastest goal to start a playoff game Just 17 seconds into the contest, Warren Foegele gave the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead to cap off a Carolina rush led by Justin Williams. It was the fastest goal to start a postseason game in Hurricanes franchise history. In addition to the quick nature of the goal, Foegele also became the first Hurricanes rookie in 17 years to score in consecutive playoff games. T.J. Oshie is out indefinitely after a scary incident in Thursday's playoff game against the Hurricanes, Capitals coach Todd Reirden announced Friday.

The 32-year-old forward left Game 4 of the Caps' Eastern Conference first-round series after a hit from Hurricanes forward Warren Foegele sent him headfirst into the boards.

Oshie stayed down on the ice for several minutes and left soon after holding his shoulder and arm area.

Reirden said Oshie is seeing doctors Friday, and won't play in Game 5 Saturday. He did not say if Oshie will miss the rest of the postseason, but added the team will know more within the next day or two.

NHL playoffs 2019: Capitals' T.J. Oshie will be out 'quite some time' after crashing into boards

NHL playoffs 2019: Capitals' T.J. Oshie will be out 'quite some time' after crashing into boards T.J. Oshie went hard into the boards and had to leave the ice after staying down for a couple of minutes.

Capitals star Alex Ovechkin had to be held back from getting into it with Hurricanes players after the incident.

"If the guy's hurt, it's a dirty play," Ovechkin told reporters after the game. "It has to be not two minutes. It has to be a different call."

Foegele explained: “I was trying to lift his stick, trying to give him a little nudge. It was a little unfortunate play there, I wasn’t trying to hurt him or anything. I hope he’s OK.”

"It was a defenseless player that was quite a distance from the boards," Reirden said. "That's an extremely dangerous play and (Oshie) will not be with our team for a while."

Oshie missed 23 games this season with concussion-like symptoms.

This is obviously a much different issue, but one that costs the Capitals nonetheless as Oshie is a vital member of Washington's roster, a deft scorer and physical player.

The Capitals lost the game, 2-1, and the series is now tied 2-2.
