Everton linked with Thiago Mendes move - a suitable replacement for Idrissa Gueye? Everton are being linked with a move for Lille midfielder Thiago Mendes as a possible replacement for Idrissa Gueye, who could possibly depart this summer for Paris Saint-Germain. According to reports in L’Equipe, Leicester City are one of three teams interested in signing Le Havre youngster Pape Gueye.

The French side are reportedly desperate to retain the services of the defensive midfielder, who has played an important role in Le Havre’s push for promotion to Ligue 1.

They will face a battle to keep hold of him as multiple Premier League clubs circle as rumours build that the 20-year-old will be available for a relatively cheap free.

Gueye’s contract currently runs until next summer (2020) but with the young player yet to commit to a new deal his future remains up in the air and Le Havre may look to offload the player this summer at a cut price.

As well as the Foxes, West Ham and Watford, alongside a host of Ligue 1 clubs, are also rumoured to be interested in the player although it remains to be seen where his preferred destination would be.

Gueye has played 10 times for Le Havre in Ligue 2 this season with seven of those appearances coming in the sides last seven games as the hot prospect establishes himself in the line-up.

Le Havre have become somewhat of a factory for young talent in recent years producing the likes of Benjamin Mendy, former Foxes player Riyad Mahrez and Paul Pogba. Leicester fans will hope that Gueye will be the next player to join that list.
