Norwich set to make first Premier League signing

Norwich set to make first Premier League signing Norwich City are reportedly eyeing up their first signing of the summer, with Rennes centre-back Mehdi Zeffane a primary target. That’s according to Le 10 Sport, via the Mirror, who claim that the Canaries are hoping to agree a deal by early June. Daniel Farke is looking to bolster his squad ahead of their return to the Premier League, following a superb season in the Championship that looks set to end in them being crowned champions. Defences can often be shown up when teams make the leap up the divisions, so strengthening in that area makes sense. Zeffane has made 29 appearances for Rennes this season and also has 11 caps for Algeria to his name.

Norwich are in talks over a deal to sign Rennes defender Medhi Zeffane this summer, according to Le 10 Sport, as cited on Tribal Football. Zeffane is out of contract with his parent club this June, and even though Rennes want to keep their man, the defender has his heart set on a move away this summer.

The 26-year-old has reportedly attracted some interest from teams across Europe, but it is Norwich who have been quickest off the mark in efforts to sign him.

Norwich have been encouraged with early talks they have had with the player, and hope to finalise the deal soon.

Godfrey excited to play against the Premier League's best strikers

Godfrey excited to play against the Premier League's best strikers Norwich defender Ben Godfrey has said he is relishing the prospect of coming up against the Premier League’s top strikers next season. The 21-year-old has been one of the Canaries’ success stories this season in his breakout year for his boyhood club. He spent last season on loan at League 1 play-off finalists Shrewsbury. He was a mainstay in the side and got a lot of praise for his performances. Godfrey looked like he would go out on loan again this season but he was given a chance in the first-team at the start of the campaign and he has not looked back since. The England U20 international is now a Premier League player and he is looking forward to the tests ahead.

Mehdi Zeffane has made 30 appearances for Rennes in all competitions this season, with 19 coming in Ligue 1.

The Algerian international came through the academy at Lyon and in 2015 he made the move to Rennes where he has been ever since.

The right-back has been part of a Rennes side that have enjoyed a successful campaign this season.

They look set to finish 13th in Ligue 1 but they reached the final of the Coupe de France, and they beat PSG on penalties after the game finished 2-2 in regulation time.

Norwich pride themselves on having talented and fearless young players and Daniel Farke’s ideology has served them very well this season.

There is no doubt that they will have to strengthen this summer to add a bit more depth to their squad and Zeffane may be the first of many to come through the doors at Carrow Road.
