SportHearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal accuses Edouard of diving in Scottish Cup final
Edouard an injury doubt ahead of Scottish Cup final
Odsonne Edouard could miss the Scottish Cup final through injury, according to the Daily Record. The young forward has been one of Celtic’s most important players this season, scoring 20 goals in 45 appearances. Neil Lennon could now be dealt a huge blow in the lead-up to the final against Hearts on May 25th, however. Edouard injured his ankle late on in Sunday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at Rangers. staying on the pitch because Celtic had used all of their substitutes. The 21-year-old looks highly likely to miss the Scottish Premiership clash with Hearts this weekend, prior to the cup final against the same opponents.
Hearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal has accused Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard of diving to win the penalty that resulted in the Hoops’ equalising goal in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final.
Edouard scored twice as Celtic came from 1-0 down to beat Hearts 2-1 at Hampden Park and secure an historic treble treble, after Ryan Edwards had given Hearts a surprise lead in the second half.
However, Zlamal is adamant that the Hoops shouldn’t have been given a route back into the game from the penalty spot, as he believes striker Edouard dived in order to win the penalty,
Brown an injury doubt for Scottish Cup final
Scott Brown is an injury doubt for the Scottish Cup final, according to the Daily Record. The Celtic captain has suffered a broken toe and is likely to be absent of Sunday’s final Scottish Premiership game of the season, at home to Hearts. Brown has been playing through the pain barrier and visited a hospital for a scan on Thursday. The report states that Celtic’s medical team “face an anxious wait before discovering the full extent of the damage”, with Brown “desperate” to play in the cup final. Hearts are also the Hoops’ opponents at Hampden Park on May 25th, as Neil Lennon’s side look to seal the ‘treble treble’.
“For me it’s absolutely not a penalty. I’m 100 per cent sure that I didn’t touch him. But the referee said penalty. It’s very disappointing as well because I touched the ball, but it went in. It was the most important reason why we didn’t beat Celtic.”
“I think we played very well the whole game but football is about small details and Celtic were more lucky. It was a big opportunity and we felt that we should win, but I have to repeat it wasn’t a penalty. I didn’t touch him and I’m absolutely sure I didn’t touch him.”
Edouard won and converted the penalty to equalise for Celtic at Hampden, before the Frenchman scored the winning goal with eight minutes of the 90 remaining.
Lennon claims Edouard could be priceless.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has claimed that forward sensation Odsonne Edouard won’t be sold this summer at any price. The French striker had a fine debut season as a full-time Celtic player, scoring 23 goals throughout the campaign. The 21-year old signed for £9million in the summer after spending last season on loan at Parkhead, and Lennon claimed that due to his vital goals this season, the forward won’t be going anywhere this summer. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Lennon said: “Odsonne was amazing (against Hearts). He had a lot of time to think about the penalty as well. There was a lot of delay from the Hearts players before it, but Odsonne was so cool.
