Steve Nicol expects Milner to sign new Liverpool deal

Steve Nicol expects Milner to sign new Liverpool deal Liverpool legend Steve Nicol says that he expects James Milner to sign a new contract with the club this summer. Milner, as it stands, is poised to become a free agent upon the expiry of his contract next month, but Nicol believes that he will commit his future to Anfield. He made 31 appearances in the Premier League for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, scoring five and assisting four from central midfield as he rotated with the likes of Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Fabinho. The 33-year-old is an experienced head in the middle of the park and has shown that he can fill in at left-back when needed.

Middlesbrough’s 21-year-old English defender Dael Fry could be a target for Liverpool this summer, according to reports cited on the Hartlepool Mail.

While Liverpool are not short of options at the back, it was also reported back in November 2018 by the Sunday Express that the Reds were interested in the young English defender, a player the club have clearly had their eye on for some time.

Fry has played 54 league games for Boro, the first one being as a 17-year-old in a 0-0 draw against Preston back in August 2015.

He appeared 39 times in all competitions for Middlesbrough during the 2018/19 season with 34 of them being in the Championship.

A move to Anfield would be a gigantic step in his career, what with the huge pressure and expectations that come with playing for the six-time European champions.

The young English defender has a lot of potential and needs the right manager to help him unlock it and who better than Jurgen Klopp to do just that. Fry would also be learning from arguably the best defender in the world right now in Virgil van Dijk if were to make the move.

Liverpool reportedly offered the chance to sign Ousmane Dembele.
Liverpool have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele this summer, according to TeamTalk, cited by Anfield Edition. The report claims that Barcelona are looking to bring in funds this summer and have offered the French international to the Reds for £90m. Anfield is thought to be Dembele’s preferred destination if he leaves the Nou Camp ahead of the new season, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp keen on adding to his attacking ranks.
