According to The Times, via The Mirror, West Ham are keen on a deal to sign Gomes ahead of next season. Gomes is attracting suitors following an impressive loan spell at Everton this season from Barcelona. The Portuguese international was a standout for Everton in the Premier League, impressing with his assured midfield displays throughout the campaign for Marco Silva’s side.

West Ham are eyeing up a swoop for Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden this summer.

According to The Newcastle Chronicle, via Sky Sports, West Ham are looking at Hayden as a possible alternative to Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.

The report claims that West Ham have had two bids rejected for Gomes, with the latest being in the region of £20m. Barcelona are said to be holding out for £25m, as Everton also look to sign the Portuguese midfielder – who was on loan at Goodison Park this season.

Hayden, meanwhile, started the season out-of-favour under Rafa Benitez, but forced his way into the side and ended the season strongly – impressing in the holding role for Newcastle.

However, he is now keen to leave Tyneside and move closer to London, having come through the ranks at Arsenal. This will come as a boost to West Ham if they decide to act on their interest.

Andre Gomes’ future is set to be sorted in the next few days, according to Sport as Premier League clubs Everton and West Ham battle it out for the midfielder. The 25-year-old spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Goodison Park so Everton may appeal more to him as he’s familiar with the manager’s demands. The Portuguese midfielder had a decent season for the Toffees, his driving runs and ability to break the lines from central midfield was a great asset for the Toffees last season. Gomes appeared 27 times for Everton in the Premier League during his loan spell in which he only scored the one goal and assisted once as well.
