Celtic fans vote for who they want to see on the wings next season As we hear all of the latest rumours regarding who is staying and who is going, one area of the pitch where there may not be too much focus for Celtic is the on wings. With seven players fighting for two places at the most, the challenge will be for each man to show new permanent manager Neil Lennon what they have to offer. We asked you this week to choose, from the current squad, who the favourite wingers were. Celtic are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Ukranian winger Marian Shved . As per a report from The Scotsman, who cite claims made in Ukranian media, the Hoops Former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is said to have played a key role in Celtic ’s bid to sign Maryan Shved .

Andriy Shevchenko is anticipating big things for Celtic new boy Maryan Shved . Celtic signed the Ukraine winger in January but he was immediately loaned back to Karpaty Lviv, meaning that he hasn't made his Hoops debut yet. Shved arrived at Lennoxtown toward the end of last season and his form

He’s Ukraine’s most famous footballer, who is now a politician and also coach with the national team – and now Andriy Shevchenko is talking up the prospects of one of his country’s young stars.

Maryan Shved signed for the Hoops back in January and wasn’t exactly welcomed with huge fanfare by now departed boss, Brendan Rodgers.

“We’ve got about a million wingers and don’t need another one, but he’s a talent and in the summer we’ll probably lose wingers and he’ll look to come in.”

As the Daily Record reports, Shevchenko said this about Celtic’s new arrival:

“I’ve been watching him closely for the past two weeks in our training camp. It’s clear he has a lot of talent. There is a lot of work to be done, but he has progressed hugely.”

This endorsement will come as a welcome boost to fans who have only watched clips of Shved online.

With the Champions League qualifiers less than a month away, the new recruit will be hoping to make as big an impact with his new manager Neil Lennon, as he has done with Shevchenko.
