Besiktas join Celtic in race to land Jenkinson

Besiktas join Celtic in race to land Jenkinson Turkish giants Besiktas have joined Celtic in the race to sign Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson. According to Turkish outlet Aksam, via The Scotsman, Besiktas are preparing a swoop for Jenkinson as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. The report claims that Besiktas have already opened talks with Arsenal over a deal for Jenkinson, with Celtic also holding an interest in the defender. Besiktas are said to be hopeful of securing a deal for Jenkinson, which will come as a blow for Celtic in their pursuit of him. Jenkinson made three Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season and now appears set for a move away from The Emirates.

Celtic have been linked with a summer move for Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, with the Daily Record saying they are looking into the rumour.

The 27-year-old made eight appearances for the Gunners in 2018/19, having been on loan at Birmingham City the previous year.

It is unlikely that Jenkinson will continue to be a key squad player under Unai Emery, so a new permanent home could be required.

There have been reports claiming a new deal at the Emirates has been agreed, however, after he was named on a list of retained players.

Jenkinson’s current Arsenal deal expires this summer, with the situation still seemingly up in the air.

The Englishman would be an interesting signing for Celtic, bringing plenty of experience with him, in an area of the pitch where reinforcements are needed.

Although predominantly a right-back, he can also thrive as a centre-back, if required.

Jenkinson joined Arsenal from Charlton Athletic in 2011, at a time when he was considered one of the most exciting up-and-coming young English players.

In total, he has made 70 appearances for the north Londoners, scoring once along the way.

Celtic linked with swoop for Twumasi.
Celtic have set their sights on a deal to sign Deportivo Alaves striker Patrick Twumasi, according to exclusive claims from Football Ghana. Neil Lennon will be hoping to strengthen his first-team squad this summer as he prepares for his first full season back with the Scottish champions. The Hoops already have high-quality forwards within the ranks, such as Odsonne Edouard, but with Timothy Weah’s loan spell ending, it seems another striker could be on their transfer wish list.
