Celtic linked with Girona striker Cristhian Stuani

Celtic linked with Girona striker Cristhian Stuani Celtic have been linked with a move for prolific Girona striker Cristhian Stuani, according to Spanish outlet AS, cited by the Scotsman. The 32-year-old has enjoyed an impressive individual season in La Liga, scoring 19 times in Spain’s top division, with only Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema and Iago Aspas netting more. Unfortunately for Stuani, his goals couldn’t prevent Girona from relegation and the striker has now been heavily linked with a move away from the club. The Hoops are reportedly showing an interest in the former Middlesbrough player, along with Championship outfit Nottingham Forest.

Celtic have been linked with a summer move for Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, with the Daily Record saying they are looking into the rumour.

The 27-year-old made eight appearances for the Gunners in 2018/19, having been on loan at Birmingham City the previous year.

It is unlikely that Jenkinson will continue to be a key squad player under Unai Emery, so a new permanent home could be required.

There have been reports claiming a new deal at the Emirates has been agreed, however, after he was named on a list of retained players.

Jenkinson’s current Arsenal deal expires this summer, with the situation still seemingly up in the air.

The Englishman would be an interesting signing for Celtic, bringing plenty of experience with him, in an area of the pitch where reinforcements are needed.

Although predominantly a right-back, he can also thrive as a centre-back, if required.

Jenkinson joined Arsenal from Charlton Athletic in 2011, at a time when he was considered one of the most exciting up-and-coming young English players.

In total, he has made 70 appearances for the north Londoners, scoring once along the way.

Celtic are now the front runners to sign Jenkinson.
Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson is potentially going to be joining Celtic next season after a transfer twist that has reduced West Brom’s chances of signing him. According to reports on Football Insider, Celtic are now the most likely team to sign the 27-year-old as part of a cash-plus-player deal as Arsenal set their sights on Kieran Tierney. An original bid that came in from Arsenal for Tierney involved £15 million and one of six players, including Jenkinson. However, this offer was rejected swiftly by the Hoops. Jenkinson had previously been in talks over a potential move to join Championship side West Brom, but that now looks increasingly unlikely.
