Liverpool make Matt Targett enquiry

Liverpool make Matt Targett enquiry Liverpool have reportedly approached Southampton over the possibility of signing Matt Targett this summer, according to 90min. The Saints look set for a major summer shake-up under Ralph Hasenhuttl, with the Austrian willing to sell up to eight first-team players, including Targett. The Reds reportedly see the 23-year-old as an excellent back-up option to the impressive Andy Robertson, with Alberto Moreno set to leave the club in the coming weeks when his deal expires.

" Targett comes back into the training sessions, and Charlie Austin comes back into the training sessions with the group on Thursday," said Puel. Puel says Saints may use the opportunity of the Under-23s' season-ending fixture away to Manchester City on Friday 5th May to give Austin some

Southampton are willing to listen to offers for both Charlie Austin and Matt Targett this summer, according to Football Insider.

They claim that Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is happy to let up to eight senior players leave the club this summer, with Austin and Targett the two players listed in the recent report.

Hasenhuttl is preparing for his first full season in charge at St Mary’s, with numerous ingoings and outgoings expected on the south coast ahead of the new campaign.

Austin joined the club from Queens Park Rangers in 2016, while Targett has been on the books with the Saints from the age of eight.

Both featured under Hasenhuttl last season, however, the pair look set to depart this summer after falling out of favour under the Austrian.

By selling up to eight first-team players, the Saints would then look to use the funds received to bring in Hasenhuttl’s top targets, with a wide man and a central defender thought to be two areas the 51-year-old is keen on strengthening in.

Saints tracking Olympiacos midfielder Mady Camara.
Olympiacos could involve Mady Camara in a swap deal to sign Guido Carrillo from Southampton on loan, according to claims from Greek news outlet Sdna, as translated by Sport Witness. Camara, 22, has been a key player at the heart of his side’s midfield in recent times, with the Saints reported to have been keeping a close eye on his exploits throughout last season. With Carrillo set to depart St Mary’s this summer, Olympiacos would appear to be one of the clubs keenly interested in taking the Argentine striker on loan.
