The 24-year-old joined Lille back in 2017 for just €10m under now Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa and has been a vital member of the side ever since. Celtic now look unlikely to re-sign Timothy Weah from Paris Saint-Germain, with news coming out of France that he is set to make a permanent move away from the club.

According to French football writer Rich Allen, the American striker is closing in on a permanent move to join Lille.

Lille enjoyed a brilliant season during the 2018/19 campaign, finishing second in Ligue 1, 16 points behind PSG, highlighting the gulf in class throughout the division.

A first-team spot at PSG was always considered unlikely for Weah in the near future, but fans may be surprised to see the French giants cash in on him so quickly after a short period at Celtic.

Liverpool have made an enquiry to sign Lille's Pepe

Liverpool have made an enquiry to sign Lille's Pepe Nicolas Pepe is a name that won’t stop getting mentioned this summer after impressing in the French league for high-flying Lille last season. This comes after the 24-year-old scored 22 goals and provided a further 11 assists to propel Lille to an astonishing second place and secure them Champions League football. Manchester United look to rival Liverpool for his signature, but without a top-four finish, Pepe may be more inclined to join the new European Champions in hope to compete with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi for a starting place rather than settle for a spot in the Europa League.

Weah , who represents the USA at International level, has actually made more starts for them that PSG with 5 international outings so far this campaign. Speaking back in September, Weah discussed his decision to opt for the French Champions and credits his mother’s influence.

Weah impressed with the Hoops and left supporters hoping that he could be re-signed this summer to add to the club’s attacking options next season.

It took him a while to settle in and really get going in Scotland, which is why many were hoping he could perhaps enjoy a full season on loan with the Hoops.

Liverpool to face Premier League competition for Pepe.
Other Premier League clubs bidding for Liverpool target Nicolas Pepe is not “unthinkable”, according to reliable journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi. The Lille winger was strongly linked with a move to Anfield yet again on Tuesday, with RMC Sport‘s Bouhafsi claiming “concrete discussions” had taken place. The news was swiftly denied by Merseyside media, although doubts surrounded the validity of those reports. Although the claims in France suggest Liverpool are in pole position to sign Pepe, acquiring his services won’t be a smooth ride.
