Tottenham end interest in West Ham target Andre Gomes

Tottenham end interest in West Ham target Andre Gomes Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly ended their interest in West Ham target Andre Gomes, according to the Daily Mail. The report claims that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will not make their interest in the midfielder concrete, paving the way for both Everton and the Hammers to battle it out to sign the player on a permanent basis. Manuel Pellegrini is keen on bringing the player to the London Stadium over the summer, with Barcelona recently rejecting an £18m offer from the Hammers. Gomes spent the previous campaign on loan with Everton, impressing in midfield under Marco Silva.

Tottenham Hotspur’s north London rivals Arsenal have reportedly submitted an offer for Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini – but should Spurs continue their interest?

The Daily Mirror write that the Gunners are prepared to meet Pellegrini’s £27m release clause, but would be looking to do so in two instalments in order to make the deal viable.

The 22-year-old featured regularly for Roma last season in the centre of midfield, a position that Spurs seem keen to bolster their options in before the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

Most of his appearances came as part of a midfield three, a formation that boss Mauricio Pochettino does not tend to deploy.

Inter Milan join West Ham and Spurs in race to land Lobotka

Inter Milan join West Ham and Spurs in race to land Lobotka Inter Milan have reportedly joined West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to land Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka this summer. According to Sky Sports, cited by calciomercato.com, Antonio Conte’s side have been watching the midfielder and have been long-term admirers of the 24-year-old. The Hammers are hoping to land Lobotka, along with his Ceta Viga teammate Maxi Gomez in a double deal worth €60m this summer. Lobotka is thought of as one of La Liga’s best midfielders after featuring in 32 games for Celta Vigo last season, impressing with his consistent displays.

However, Pellegrini’s qualities are clear to see, linking defence and attack by winning the ball efficiently before finding a team-mate with a precise pass forward.

The former Sassuolo man is also more than capable of performing a box to box role and is physically strong and agile.

One area the Italian does not stand out in is creativity in front of goal, scoring just four goals and providing seven assists for the Italian giants last season.

However, signing him would allow the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli the license to push forward and provide said goals and assists, knowing that they won’t be left short on the counter attack.

Pellegrini also has Champions League and international experience, which will only benefit young players in the squad such as Oliver Skipp.

For the £27m being mentioned, a snip in today’s over-inflated transfer market, Pellegrini would be a fantastic addition to a Spurs squad intent on progressing both domestically and in Europe next term.

Pellegrini reveals West Ham missed out on Aranguiz.
Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that West Ham tried and failed in an attempt to sign Charles Aranguiz from Bayer Leverkusen. Speaking to Chilean news outlet El Mercurio, as translated in a report from Sport Witness, the Hammers boss discussed how his efforts to recruit the experienced playmaker fell through. Pellegrini did not specify exactly when he attempted to recruit the midfielder from Leverkusen but admitted that he did try to lure him to the London Stadium. He said: “I will not talk about conversations, but I can tell you that I would have loved to have many Chilean players who have been figures worldwide.
