Norwich and Villa fighting to sign Opare

Norwich and Villa fighting to sign Opare Norwich and Aston Villa are reportedly fighting it out to land Antwerp defender Daniel Opare this summer. As reported by The Pink’Un, Norwich are interested in a deal to bring the defender to England ahead of next season. The report claims that Norwich and Villa are both leading the race to sign him, having both been promoted to the Premier League – with the former as champions and the latter as play-off winners. Opare made 23 league appearances for Antwerp this season as they secured a Europa League spot in the top tier of Belgian football. He has been capped 18 times by Ghana at international level and has played for Real Madrid B earlier in his career.

Norwich City are scouting Paderborn left-back Jamilu Collins during international duty.

According to German outlet Kicker, via journalist Manuel Veth, Norwich are watching Collins as he plays for Nigeria in the Africa Cup this summer.

Collins played 34 games for Paderborn in the 2. Bundesliga this season as the German club secured an incredible promotion to the Bundesliga, having been in the 3. Liga the year before.

The 24-year-old has been capped five times by Nigeria at international level and joined Paderborn from Rijeka in 2017.

Following Paderborn’s promotion, it seems unlikely that Collins would want to join Norwich as a back-up – with Jamal Lewis the first-choice under Daniel Farke.

Philip Heise also joined Norwich in January, but has yet to make a first-team appearance for the club since his move from Germany.

Norwich linked with move to sign Edouard Mendy.
Norwich City are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer and Stade de Reims’ Edouard Mendy is one of the names being mentioned in reports from French outlet L’Equipe. Norwich however, will have a fight on their hands with fellow French sides Marseille, Rennes and Montpellier all keen on the shot-stopper’s signature. Following their respective promotions to England’s top flight, both Norwich and now Aston Villa have made their intentions clear regarding the player and could make a move to sign him up this summer. The Ligue 1 side completed a deal to sign Predrag Rajkovic and that has raised doubts over Mendy’s immediate future at the club.
