Arsenal in advanced talks with Thomas Meunier - but would he be a smart signing? Arsenal look to be in pole position to land Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Meunier this summer, but would he be a smart signing by Unai Emery? According to reliable journalist Nicolo Schira, the Gunners have offered the versatile defender a five-year deal ahead of a possible move to the Emirates Stadium. Emery found out on Wednesday evening that the Gunners are in desperate need of numerous additions over the summer, especially in a defensive aspect, following their 4-1 Europa League final defeat to Chelsea.

Arsenal are eyeing a bargain deal to sign another German goalkeeper in the shape of Markus Schubert this summer, according to Bild. Schubert will cost a lot less than Leno however. The 20-year-old’s contract at second tier side Dynamo Dresden will expire this summer and his departure has

Arsenal are close to making their first summer signing in the form of German goalkeeper Markus Schubert, but is this a good deal for the Gunners?

According to the Independent, Schubert is close to joining the club on a free transfer from Dynamo Dresden in Germany.

Having only just turned 21, he is certainly one for the future. He is already drawing comparisons to current Arsenal number one Bernd Leno and could well be a long-term option to replace him, despite the fact Leno has not long joined the club himself.

This really is a risk-free move from the Gunners. Identified by Sven Mislintat prior to his departure, Schubert certainly arrives with a lot of potential. Joining for nothing means there is little to lose from Arsenal’s part.

Mislintat was known for his talent spotting and this is a deal that could either save the club a lot of money in the long run or alternatively, see them profit immensely.

He looks unlikely to be a player for the immediate first-team, but as a long-term squad option, Arsenal fans can’t really have any complaints. A loan would be a great move for Schubert to get him playing at a top level.

If he continues to develop into the player Arsenal hope he can, they have pulled off a bargain of a deal for the young German, but only time will tell.

Arsenal move for Perisic – but would he be a good signing?.
Arsenal are reportedly in the hunt to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, but would he be a good signing for the Gunners? According to claims from Italian news outlet FC Inter News, the Gunners are among a host of clubs who have expressed an interest in signing the experienced winger. Arsenal have reportedly made a tentative approach to sign Perisic, but is the man to solve their issues out wide? It has been clear for some time now that the Gunners lack natural wingers in their first-team squad. Reiss Nelson and Xavier Amaechi are both incredibly promising, but Alex Iwobi is the only recognised senior player in this position.
