Former Celt Henderson makes history with promotion We all love a good news story here, so we were delighted to see former Hoops academy and first-team player Liam Henderson make the morning papers and online columns with his team’s promotion from Serie B to Serie A in Italy. Playing for Hellas Verona, he started the match against Citadella with a 2-0 deficit to overcome from the first leg play-off. In dramatic fashion, they struck late on to clinch the 3-0 win they needed and wild celebrations ensued. Brother of current first-team youngster Ewan, Liam joined the small outfit from Bari, who suffered financial difficulties and he made the switch to Verona.

Liam Moore was at the top of his game heading into the summer of 2017. As a result, Brendan Rodgers, a manager renowned for spotting underrated talents a mile off, was keen to bring Moore to Celtic , with the Daily Record stating that a £5 million move was being considered.

Celtic backed out of an £800k deal to sign South African defender Rivaldo Coetzee - but could now pay far more to sign Liam Moore from Reading. By using this site you agree to the use of cookies for analytics, personalized content and ads. Find out more | Close. Does £5m Liam Moore move

It looks like a move to Celtic Park won’t be happening for Reading’s 26-year-old English defender Liam Moore.

He has reportedly been priced out of a move to Scottish giants Celtic this summer, according to local Reading-based journalist Courtney Friday.

Earlier this week, the Reading Chronicle reported that Scottish champions Celtic were renewing their interest in the English defender as it’s not the first time the Hoops have been linked with a move for Moore.

The English defender appeared 40 times in what was a catastrophic 2018/19 season for the Royals, as they finished two places above the relegation zone in the Championship.

Moore is dearly loved by the Reading fans, making 124 league appearances over the course of his three-year stay at the club, as well as captaining the side to safety last season. Moore was also named Fans’ Player of the Year for the 2017/18 season.

Sunderland make move for Celtic target Lawrence Shankland.
League One side Sunderland have offered a contract to Celtic transfer target Lawrence Shankland. According to the Northern Echo, via HITC, Sunderland have made their move as they attempt to land Shankland on a free transfer. The forward is out of contract at the end of the month and will be available to sign for Sunderland or Celtic on a free. Shankland scored 34 goals in 41 appearances for Ayr United in all competitions this season, but opted against signing a new deal with the club – freeing him to explore his options ahead of next season. He also scored 29 goals in 33 games in his first season for Ayr, taking his total to 62 goals in 73 games since joining from Aberdeen.
