Liverpool have made €45m (circa £40m) bid to Sporting CP for Bruno Fernandes, according to a report from Correio da Manha, the most circulated and the leading daily newspaper in Portugal.

Fernandes has been widely linked with a number of clubs this summer, most notably Manchester United, but if reports from Portugal are to be believed, the Reds are hoping to hijack any move that United had lined up for him.

Interest in the 24-year-old is expected to be plentiful after his incredible 2018/19 season in which he scored 20 goals and created a further 13 in just 33 league games.

Tottenham leading Liverpool in race for Bruno Fernandes Tottenham are reportedly beating both Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to land Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes this summer, according to Record, cited by Sport Witness. The report claims that Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, is set to fly to London this weekend to discuss a possible summer switch. The 24-year-old has attracted interest from all three clubs this summer, as well as Manchester City, however, the Premier League champions have reportedly withdrawn their interest in the playmaker.

Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. A full international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2018 World Cup.

Fernandes , who scored 32 goals and registered 18 assists, has already been heavily linked with Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Inter. But according to Correio da Manha, Liverpool are the first club to make a formal bid as they have submitted a € 45 m (£40m) offer.

The Portuguese international is expected to leave Sporting this summer and in a recent interview, he hinted as much, saying:

“I never said that I wanted to leave, I am happy here. Even so, sometimes you can’t say no to certain offers. I would only leave if Sporting also agree to this. I dream of playing in England.”

Tottenham and Man City have also been linked with moves for Fernandes but, if reports in his homeland are to be believed, it’s Liverpool who have made the first attempt to sign the midfielder.

Liverpool set to meet Bruno Fernandes’ agent in London.
