Tottenham pushing to wrap up deal for Liverpool target Ndombele

Tottenham pushing to wrap up deal for Liverpool target Ndombele Tottenham are thought to be hopeful of completing a deal with Lyon before the end of the month for Liverpool target Tanguy Ndombele. According to French outlet Le10 Sport, relayed in an article by Sport Witness, Spurs and Lyon are both willing to do a deal for the player in the current window. Mauricio Pochettino’s side reportedly had a first offer for the player turned down recently, however, both sides are now willing to get a deal over the line in the coming weeks. Ndombele has reportedly been tracked by Liverpool over the course of the previous campaign, producing a series of consistent displays in Ligue 1.

Lyon have received offers for sought-after midfielder Tanguy Ndombele but none have met the club's valuation, according to president Jean-Michel Aulas.

Les Gones secured a third-place finish in Ligue 1 last season to ensure Champions League qualification for 2019-20, but that may not be enough to avoid losing some of their key players.

Speculation continues to mount regarding the futures of Houssem Aouar, Moussa Dembele, Memphis Depay, Nabil Fekir and Ndombele, who is said to be interesting Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain after emerging as one of Europe's most highly rated young midfielders.

Spurs falling short of Ndombele price tag - but should they up their bid?

Spurs falling short of Ndombele price tag - but should they up their bid? Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in contact with Lyon over the signing of midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, but are some way off meeting the French club’s valuation of the player – should Spurs up their bid? The Gaurdian write that Lyon want €75m for Ndombele, but Spurs are looking to pay closer to €50m for his services. The 22-year-old is a defensive midfielder who likes to get from box to box, using his raw pace and power to shrug off challenges when going forwards and dispossess opponents when defending. He is also known to be comfortable with the ball at his feet, picking out his team-mates with short or long-range passes in order to launch counter attacks.

And, although Lyon have received offers, Aulas told the interested parties they will need to increase their bids if they want the France international.

"There is nothing decided at the moment," Aulas told reporters on Tuesday. "There have been many proposals, but they haven't met my expectations."

Aulas also confirmed Lyon's interest in Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis, who is set to leave Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.

"We are far enough from an agreement," he added. "Filipe Luis has many qualities, but he wants to take his time to make the decision.

"We are in a hurry to announce a number of signings, but he is one of the players we are very interested in."

BREAKING NEWS: Ndombele joins Tottenham in club-record deal.
Tanguy Ndombele had been linked with a host of top European clubs but it is Tottenham who have secured the services of the France star.
