Bournemouth keen to land Southampton target Phillips

Bournemouth keen to land Southampton target Phillips Southampton are still keeping tabs on Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips, according to Football Insider, but Bournemouth registered an interest in signing him this summer. The Cherries are understood to be pressing ahead with their efforts to land promising British players ahead of the 2019/20 campaign. Southampton are still interested in signing Bordeaux forward Francois Kamano this summer, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, via Sport Witness.

Saints have already been eyeing up the Guinea international, showing an interest early last season and up until January.

A deal never materialised, however, but there is a chance that Kamano’s future may still lie at St Mary’s.

The report states that Southampton are ‘working with the player’s agent to bring him to the Premier League next season’.

It does appear to be a slightly flimsy link, however, so it could be a story not to read too much into.

Kamano scored 13 goals in 51 appearances for Bordeaux in 2018/19, as they finished 14th in Ligue 1.

The 23-year-old also has 26 caps to his name for Guinea, finding the net five times along the way.

His current deal with Bordeaux expires in the summer of 2020, meaning now is the time that they could earn a sizeable fee for his services.
